Bad management of what could be a lovely hotel

Pros: Great location Staff other than management are charming and try to help Lovely courtyard and pool

Cons: Aircon noisy and not very effective and windows do not open. One aircon leaked on gloss tiled floor causing nasty. Another room had aircon that sounded like a jackhammer (no exaggeration) and blew only warm air (we refused to accept that one.) Management did not honour booking terms as per Booking.com. We arrived to find they did not supply rooms as booked and had unilaterally cancelled final night of our stay (booked over 12 months in advance) leaving us to find alternative 5 rooms for 7 persons on one of the busiest nights of the year.

Cons: Dishonest management. Cancelled key night of booking for 7 pax 5 rooms made a year in advance. Festival eve (31Oct). No doubt sold our rooms for more money. BUT took our payment for other 4 nights and then cancelled booking on Booking.com. In one room air- -con leaked water on gloss tiled flooor causing severe fall. Manager couldnt care less! All aircon very noisy and windows dont open so you have no choice

Cons: The hotel did not provide a room as was depicted in photos. The room was unhealthy and had water dripping from the ceiling, and had a rank, musty smell. There was black mould on surfaces.

Pros: Good location 2 blocks from Centro and the main town square and also 2 blocks from another plaza, a few restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Opposite the University in a touristy part of town. The open air lobby is nice and the pool area is nice. There is an independent restaurant/ bar attached which is quite good.

Cons: The front desk staff were not helpful. Checkin is 3:00pm, we arrived at 2:30pm and were told that our room was being cleaned and would be ready in 20 minutes so we went out for a late lunch arriving back at 3:00pm to be told our room would be ready in 5 minutes. We were told that another 2 times, eventually getting our key at 4:10pm. It appears that they have only 1 housekeeper who has to clean every room. The air conditioner in our room rattled that badly that I had to jam wads of paper around it to try and reduce the noise, not very successfully. This hotel has an old sewage system so you cant flush paper down the toilet, you need to drop the used paper in a bin next to the toilet, not uncommon in Mexico. But, when the room wasnt serviced by 4:00pm the next day I told reception that it hadnt been cleaned. Their response was, does it need it. So, the room wasnt cleaned for 2 days, the toilet bin was overflowing and no clean towels. The tap in the bathroom was not fixed to the basin, it was just sitting on top of it so you had to hold the tap to turn it on or off. They need to lift their game and do a few repairs.

All in all for one night the stay was pleasant and you cant beat the location.

Cons: The air conditioning didnt work on the entire property and they didnt inform us ahead of time. Also the air conditioner was leaking twice making a puddle in our room. They said we they can change our room but then since we were there for 2 days they changed their minds. Would not recommend this hotel.

Pros: Great location, walking distance from everything. Very friendly staff that made us feel welcome. Very clean. Nice pool area!

Cons: It would have been easy to dislike the place as it is not as well kept as in the pictures - its an old building that shows its age not necessarily in a good way (scary lift, so-so airco, humid smell in the room, a leaking fridge). Yet, we grew to like it and had a lovely time there!

Pros: Don't let all the negative reviews dissuade you, it's a rustic hotel and a bit dated, but it's beautiful! It's not 5 star but it's very good.

Cons: The cleaners would keep given us less and less towels. We never got a hand towel after the first day.
