Pros: Exceptional place and atmosphere

This is a special place to stay and one needs to make decision on special location vs comfort and convenience.

Pros: Good location, snorkeling opportunities are great. Quiet island after daily tourists left. Morning snorkeling is great and almost a private island experience before ferries bring in day visitors.

Cons: In room WiFi was down during my stay. Cellular reception capped at 3G. Food choices are limited. Even with many Asian tourists, there was no practical Asian food on island. Lunch and dinner menu have limited choices.

Beautiful resort for the Great Barrier Reef. Good for accessibility

Pros: A part from the lack of wifi in room and the price, I liked everything

Cons: Lack of WiFi in room. No much food choice also expensive . Nothing to do after sunset.

Pros: Staff really helpful with information once they knew I was there for bird watching. Came to find me when interesting bird seen.

Cons: Buff-banded rails a real nuisance in outdoor eating areas. How about a few dogs as frighteners? It works against gulls at the Sydney Opera House!

MASSIVELY OVERPRICED 3 STAR HOTEL. NOT A RESORT. DAY TRIPPERS ONLY.

Pros: Very little. Crew on Quicksilver boat did an outstanding job getting mobility impaired guest off the vessel during high tide and swells. Rooms had walk in shower/hand rails. Most of the staff are backpackers who are pleasant and obliging whilst the minority are a little work shy.

Cons: Overpriced 3 star hotel, not a resort. Pools had no access for guest unable to climb stairs. Main pool over-run by day trippers. 'Resort' pool has steep stairs. Paid $800 per day (with no breakfast included). Extras:+ $40pp breakfast (very poor even for an island)+ expensive restaurant meals. NO Internet in room (didn't drop out because it didn't drop in), only in guest 'lounge. TV no Netflix/Foxtel only free to air but not all channels. Grounds are dirty/walkways filthy. Short staffed - only one cleaner on hand on Saturday. The organisation is clearly trying to re-coup COVID losses.

Disappointing, didnt live up to our expectations

Pros: Our stay was not the exceptional experience we thought it was going to be.

Cons: I assumed, as we were on an island with no other facilities, that our AUD 850 per night included meals. Stupidly I did not scan down to page 3 of my booking details and read that no food was included for that price. Breakfast was an additional AUD 38 for a very average breakfast buffet. Dinner was a la carte but again around AUD 45. The food was ok, not what I expected from a resort which markets itself as this does. There were a couple of other places to eat lunch or dinner. The only breakfast alternative was the cafe that opened at 9, they had very sad sandwiches for AUD 12 Staff in the restaurant were nearly all young European, service in terms of speed was fine. Nobody made any effort to engage you in conversation, a job had to be done and it was. Dive shop staff were much the same, quite off hand, told you what you needed to know and nothing more. It felt like the adults had left the kids to run the show. We had planned to leave the island on the afternoon boat but changed and left on the early morning boat. These 2 nights were our way over budget treat !

Pros: Many open beaches and still had privacy when you wanted. Option for beach dining was great.

Cons: I think for people staying on the island drinks prices should be discounted and not at RRP.

Cons: Food was so overpriced and not even nice with a distinct lack of options. During the day you have enough to do, but after dinner there is nothing to do and the wifi is poor.

The few days were simply blissful and relaxing.

Pros: There was a good variety for breakfast. the food was well prepared and presented. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Marc from Germany served us coffee and cocktails and he was very friendly and open to conversation.

Cons: We know keeping wildlife out of a location like that is difficult. It was the only down side of our stay. They snuck into our room and caused a little mess as we didn't realize one had got in.

Exceptional

Really great experiences on the island, the cultural tour was a highlight! One night stay is perfect

Pros: The island itself is stunning and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. There were so many amazing fish to snorkel amongst right by the beach which meant you could get away with not doing a tour if you were pressed for time (the tour was absolutely amazing so if you do have time I would recommend adding that to your itinerary). One thing I would recommend for everyone to do is the cultural tour of the island. Our guide Blake was extremely knowledgable and taught us so much about the island, as well as the mainland, explained the traditional uses of the plants, explained the history of the reef's formation, and went above and beyond to tailor the experience to our needs. This was definitely a highlight of our entire trip and we are so grateful for the experience and for Blake's enthusiasm.

Cons: The resort itself was rather tired looking. For the price we paid we were a little disappointed when we first arrived as it looks quite rundown from the outside. The room itself was really nice on the inside. It is situated in amongst the trees so it aways looks really dark and gloomy outside despite it being warm and extremely sunny on the beachfront (don't sleep in 'cause the weather looks bad - it most likely isn't). There always seemed to be rain around midday. We were there in June so this may not be the case year-round.

Beautiful nature spot but ruined by too many day trippers. I will not return for this reason

Pros: Large room in lovely green lush setting. Great bathroom Sunset drinks great idea

Cons: Day tourists/trippers over ran the place during the day and made any beach activities unpleasant. The common room needs renovating Emerald restaurant was over priced. The breakfast buffet was situated in a freezing cold room. No room service.

Magical location built in sympathy with the rainforest.

Pros: Beautiful location with well appointed rooms. The atmosphere of the island in the evening is magical. I highly recommend a twilight walk in the rain forest. The food in the restaurant was very good and staff very friendly.

Cons: Once the day-trippers go home at 4.30 pm the island is very quiet with only the restaurant open, therefore after 8pm there is no bar or other services available.
