Pros: We checked out after one night as didnt like anything about it.

Cons: This resort has a ridiculously strict dress code which is not made clear when booking on this site. Long trousers for men in all three restaurants when the temperature is 28 degrees! On our first morning we walked up the beach for breakfast enjoying walking through the sea and sand only to be told we couldnt be served a cup of tea as we werent wearing shoes. Our table was right by the sand and the restaurant was empty by then. We were told in a very unfriendly manner to walk back to our room (15 mins) to get shoes by which time breakfast would have been over. No room service. Check in was unbelievably tedious. They wanted us to provide booking confirmation even though they had sent it to us and our room was already allocated to us, our return flight ticket which seemed completely unnecessary and transpires they want it on file in case we wanted to do duty free shopping at the resort which we didnt. We were told they have three restaurants. One was fully booked, the other had a supplement if $50 to eat in which is odd given its a fully inclusive resort. We were then informed that if we wanted to eat in any of the restaurants my husband had to wear long trousers and a shirt with collar. Im all for smart casual and would consider myself a very discerning traveller but this policy is over the top and outdated. To have all three restaurants requiring this is too much. They should make this absolutely clear before accepting a booking and prepayment. I would not have booked had I known this. I requested a meeting with the manager and told him we wanted to leave and be refunded for the two remaining days of our booking. He appreciated the problem and in particular that the dress code was not clear on booking.com site. To his credit he agreed to refund the remaining days.

Pros: The grounds of the hotel were very beautiful and tranquil. The view of the ocean From our room was fabulous. The pool was nice with an ample amount of pool lounge chairs. Many of the staff members were helpful.

Cons: The water was rough and choppy the majority of the time due to the position of the hotel on Galley Bay. There were several days in which we were unable to go in the ocean (red flag). The food was very basic with a limited amount of options.

Pros: Great location. Lovely beach. Clean room and resort buildings. Ismay was best food, by far.

Cons: Chairs too deep, front to back. No cushions - very uncomfortable. Beach beds also uncomfortable. Bike saddles wrong height - impossible to adjust due to rust. Table tennis table and sandy floor totally unsuitable. A pity. Night entertainment very sedate. Music uninspiring..

True paradise

Pros: The views of the beach, the beach itself, the room, the coffee shop, the pool, and especially the little turtle sanctuary were incredible. The most impressive part to me was the food. Dinner felt as if we were fine dining with 4 - 5 star chef quality food. The other wonderful part of the stay was the customer service-everyone was so nice, friendly, and accommodating. We will be back!

Cons: We didn't like the mosquitoes and flies but we also know that there is not much the hotel can do about it. As a matter of fact, to help, they spray for mosquitoes twice a week. Two improvements would be to have more premium choices at the bar (there were some) and to have the Rum Shack and Gaugin restaurant open more often.

Pros: The staff at Galley Bay were very pleasant and friendly. The environment was clean and food was good esp at the Gauguin restaurant.

Cons: Not much to do in the surrounding areas.

Utter bliss

Pros: This is a superb resort, no question. Beautifully manicured grounds, fantastic beach location, superb accommodation and facilities. Calm and exclusive. Staff absolutely wonderful.

Cons: The only thing that lets the resort down is the Gaugin restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner. Unquestionably a superb location for an evening meal, but food was of variable quality. Often rather bland due to lack of seasoning. Starters often very small. We had to send our meal back one evening, as several items on the plate were cold. The wines were also very expensive, limited choice and simply not worth the money. We purchased a bottle of US pinot noir costing $90, which in an on-line search turned out to be a $15 very average bottle of wine. That said, the house wine is not bad, unlimited and inclusive, although if you are there for more than a few days it can get rather repetitive.

Pros: absolutely immaculate grounds! peaceful relaxing ambiance and the food was incredible! staff is super friendly, bar staff is always on top of drinks. dinners were romantic and the food truly was delicious. I highly recommend Galley Bay resort! we never had to ask for anything, there were fresh towels daily, wine and beer left for us in our room daily, beach chairs and umbrellas were set up for us everyday. the pool and grounds are so clean and pristine. we had an amazing honeymoon thanks to Galley Bay!

Cons: not a single complaint! they didnt have any domestic US beer but other than that no complaints!

Pros: The location was spectacular! The staff was beyond wonderful-- they anticipated needs before you realized you had them! Resort provided the perfect adult playground with bikes to boats to beach toys! Biking around the property was wonderful. We were absolutely AMAZED by the herb , vegetable and fruit gardens.

Cons: My only complaint is the occasional noise from power tools and blowers as maintenance issues were addressed. On the flip side of this, everything was kept to perfection so it was easy to understand that maintenance had , by necessity, to be a daily thing. My only other complaint -- not being able to stay forever!
