Exceptional hotel in a beautiful...

Pros: The Due Torri is an exceptional hotel, with elegance and style everywhere. The staff are very attentive and genuinely helpful. There is an air of classical charm here, the lobby seating area is grand and spacious, there was a Jazz quartet one of the evenings which really gave the place a special vibe. The hotel is in a great location in the old city, beside the Basilica San Anastasia, and in a quiet square just off the end of the main high-street. Restaurants abound here, with great variety of cuisine on offer, historical sites are within very short walking distance and the whole atmosphere of this city is at the same time relaxed and alive.

Pros: This beautiful hotel is close to all attractions like Arena, House of Giulia and also for those who love shopping won’t be disappointed as bringing the bags back to the hotel room is a max 10-15 walk from the main shopping streets. The hotel rooms were clean and I personally loved the wooden floor and the nice reading material before sleep. Lots of love into the details. The hotel bar and the lobby amazing, staff very pleasant and helpful.

Cons: Small room. Unfortunately a wedding reception held in the hotel went to the early hours of the morning making sleep impossible . Staff were great and moved us to a quieter room around midnight.

Pros: In the heart of the city, in a beautiful palace. Nice breakfast. Old style hotel, in perfect context with the location.

Extremely disappointing first night

Pros: The staff were generally excellent and very attentive.

Cons: We arrived at Due Torri and we were told we had been upgraded to a junior suite. However, the standard of the junior suite was extremely poor, it was an awful unrenovated relatively small room. Half of the space in the room was unusable and therefore completely pointless. The furniture in this space could not be used, it had no purpose and provided no comfort, there was no table to sit at, the discomfort was highlighted by the fact that there was only one chair for two people! The following morning I complained and I asked to be moved. We were moved back to a Delux double, which is what I had booked in the first place. This room was a large beautiful newly renovated room, it provided plenty of space and somewhere for us both to sit. In short, the “upgrade” when we arrived was in fact a downgrade. The hotel was not at all busy, as it was low season and there were hardly any other guests. Why we should be treated so poorly is beyond me. Perhaps it was because we had booked through Booking.com and the hotel was not receiving all of the booking fee for our stay. I complained again on departure and the front desk blamed room service for the furniture. Further they made no attempt to put right the obvious failings. Not only is “room service” not responsible for the poor furniture, it cannot be blamed for a poorly decorated, small room either. Nor can room service be blamed for the decision to put guests in that room, on the pretence of a nonexistent upgrade. I will never stay at this hotel again and we visit Verona often. There are plenty of other good hotels centrally and at a lower cost.

Pros: Central location

Cons: The hotel decor is quite old and tired. The room was nice but basic things like providing tea and coffee making facilities or glasses for the complimentary water were forgotten. The spa and wellness Center is only a basic gym (3-4 cardio machines) and one convertible multi gym - no other weights etc and is locked until you ask reception. There is a sauna, shower and steam room, again requiring 30-40mins notice to reception to switch on. The roof terrace is closed in the winter which is a shame as the weather was still nice in November.
