About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    Pros: Bed was comfortable...
    Cons: The room reeked of cigarette smoke, they charge 25 a day for parking and a 50 dollar security deposit. The room wasn't the cleanest, no refrigerator or microwaves in room. Honestly just seems like a low effort hotel even for an affordable option.

    Cons: I had no hot water at all the ac blew ice cold air even on heat so I was freezing cold probably because the ac unit looked as if someone had kicked it in and the shower was pouring water from the hose when I turned it on because of being busted

    Disappointing

    Pros: In an unpardonable sin, the wifi did not work. It was a very weak signal but even when I was connected according to my computer pages wouldn't load. Also, the entire hotel needs repair and updating but for the price, I was satisfied.
    Cons: Wifi, and parking was awful. trying to maneuver in the parking lot was nearly impossible. I pranged my bumper as a result. Very inadquate.

    A matter of convenience for transportation and my budget for the trip have for forced my choice of this hotel.

    Pros: Room is cleaned by the custodian well. Good linens and mattress. A short walk to Van Ness metro station. A number of good cafes on both sides for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
    Cons: Extremely outdated flooring, furniture, and equipment. The drawer in the bedside table doesnt close (stays rolled out, so gets in the way). Furniture items are heavily weathered and scratched. Staff doesnt make you feel welcomed. The basic mini-toiletries, coffee/tea & drinking cups arent re-filled during a multiple day stay. Had to request several times before getting a refill by late night, before my departure time. Before then, I had to go outside to buy a drink in a cup. Some of the guests had flooded the elevator with a sweet drink. The puddle stayed inside the elevator for a long time, while the floor in the lobby around the elevator door remained sticky for at least two days afterwords.

    Pros: Location and convenience to the Metro. The staff was friendly and helpful.
    Cons: The air conditioning didnt work well, it was still hot and muggy in the room with the air on. And cable was not working (although they began fixing it when we checked out)

    Pros: The location is perfect, quiet part of DC. A few shops nearby, easy access to Downtown DC. the hotel is pretty quiet for the most part
    Cons: no fridge, no microwave, outdated and run down rooms, AC & heat didn't work correctly, housekeeping didn't want to give extra towels. could go on & on..no breakfast either
