About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

Pros: Location, price and room were as expected.

Cons: Booked room for two days but could only stay one night due to death in family. Clerk said nothing he could do about it and had to take it up with Booking .com. Stay was fine fine until guests were checked in to adjoining room around 10pm. The design of room allowed every noise and word to filter in to our room. We tried blanket and pillows against door but no success. Finally went to front desk at 1am to complain. Clerk called the room and had them quiet down. 1:30 am we got back to sleep so we could get up at 5:30am to leave for funeral. Unhappy

Pros: Good price if you received all that was advertised and paid for so long as you're OK wallpaper rips, rust and toilet problems in your room and broken flooring in the breakfast area.

Cons: Hot tub out of order, pool too cold to swim in -- both were main features of why our family booked 6 rooms to share New Years together. Said the heater went out the day before. With all rust on the sprinkler system, rips in wallpaper, sticky toilet, and broken flooring we saw, we weren't buying that story. They seem reluctant to fix things.
