About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

Pros: roomy, clerk was friendly and efficient.

Cons: Room looked clean but walking around the room for 10 minutes our feet were black as pitch so we had to walk from shower to bed scooting on a towel just to get to socks and shoes. Maids did the minimum during our 4 day stay. Breakfast was ok but mostly sugar sugar sugar.

Cons: Pretty much everything. Room had an odd smell to it. Had to open window to get some of it out. Bed was noisy whenever someone moved on it. Blinds were broke on the window and last but not least..cockroaches! Dead and alive.

It was a dirty place to stay and not what was in the pictures. I would never stay here again.

Cons: The floors were dirty, the bathtub had cockroaches in it so we were unable to use the shower during our stay. When checking out, I notified the front desk lady that there were cockroaches and she replied with do you mean water bugs? As if I dont know what a cockroach looks like then told me that I would have to go through the third party that I booked with if I had any complaints. She then accused me of lying and said she would investigate herself.

Pros: The night auditor was helpful

Cons: The owners were loud and disrespectful all night into the early morning. They were celebrating a birthday and the front desk asked them to keep it down but also said she couldn't do much because they are the owners. Worst stay I've ever experienced. We cancelled our stay for the rest of the trip and got a new reservation for a different hotel.

Queen suite best for no more than 2 adults and only smaller children

Pros: Front desk was helpful, getting us extra towels and blankets. Location was within walking to a grocery store and a couple fast food places. Breakfast was good and price was reasonable.

Cons: Booked the Queen suite with a bed and a pull out couch. The pull out couch turned out to be love seat sized not full sized, and we had an adult and older child that needed to sleep in it. Not a very comfortable night. We had requested a first floor room due to one guest having mobility issues but we didnt get one.
