About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    Pros: The only thing I liked about the room was the location.
    Cons: Checking in, the man at the desk was so rude and unprofessional. I asked multiple questions for him to wave his arm at me after he mumbled something. (I couldn't understand him) I didn't know when breakfast was, what the WiFi password was, or what time check out was. The room was absolutely nasty and smelled TERRIBLE. The walls were paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the room next to you. The hot water was not even hot! Also the TV was terrible!! It cut in and out and reminded me of the 1980s. The sign said 'updated rooms'. Which is a lie because my room was outdated. Once I got the WiFi working (thanks to the help of my neighbor) it was also terrible and so delayed!! I will not stay here again.

    Pros: This hotel is very nice and clean. And it's right on the main road. It's also very close to Buccees. Also it's close to a few food places. Its also near the Russell Stover store.
    Cons: TV remote was dead and they did not explain what the WiFi password was when we got there. The entrance is in a very bad place. They don't even have an actual turning lane for them. Where we were, there was a trailer blocking the way to pull in, so every time I parked, I had to back in.

    My stay was terrible. I...

    Pros: Nothing!
    Cons: The room wasn't clean. The whole hotel ran out of hot water. I arrived at 9pm went to shower had no hot water. The person at the front desk didn't inform me there was no hot water for the whole hotel. I thought it was just the 2nd floor. I asked if I could get moved to another room. He stated there were no rooms available. I asked if someone was on their way, he said tomorrow morning. I went downstairs they claimed they could not reach a plumber. I asked if they had their own maintenance, I asked for a refund, I got a run around. When I dropped off my key they had a sign that said no hot water.

    Pros: The front desk manager was attentive. Took care of all issues as they came up. (Definitely overworked due to staffing issues)
    Cons: The first room had an strong odor (pot) (honestly wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't had our son) the manager gave us a different room but when the cleaning person came to the room as we were moving he said he didn't smoke and didn't smell anything and stated you get what you pay for. I thought it was a nice place and had no issues with the second room except we had to go get towels from the front desk. It's not a big deal.
