About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    Criminal Activity Location, Do Not...

    Pros: The location worked for me.
    Cons: The place is run down and you feel as if your are going to be robbed at any moment. The room smelled heavy or tobacco smoke and felt sketchy. The bathtub had at least 50 cigarette burns in it and the faucet was leaking a steady stream. The toilet seat had deep scratches in it and looked as if it was used as a frisbee and throw into the parking lot. There was trash in the parking lot and walkways and several of the clients looked as if they were permanent residents and very loud and obnoxious. Also the ones below my room were up all night and had multiple different vehicles visiting their room for a very short time and I would say that this activity is conducive to drug purchases. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this location and I am completely shocked that this is associated with a quality hotel brand. This was so bad I will not stay at this hotel chain unless I arrive to see it in person before I pay.

    Cons: It was dirty, uncomfortable and not worth the money. The water dripped all night from the shower/bath. The smell of bleach was that strong when opened the door my lungs burned and had to keep the door open for ages and the smell never went away. The alarm clock didn't work. There were cigarette burns in the sheets.

    Pros: Hotel was clean and inexpensive. Staff was nice. There was a machine to get ice and vending machines to get snacks. Breakfast was good.
    Cons: The pool was closed. The room was cold. Even after I turned the air down. There was no room service. And I had to go to front desk to ask for coffee. There was only two regulars coffee in my room. The tv was a little messed up.

    Pros: Breakfast was ok just can't take it to room so if you have family that don't have the health to go get it they self won't have breakfast.
    Cons: Room not kept up had to plug TV in lamp to watch because sockets didn't work bathroom

    Cons: Everything was in bad condition you had to go next door to get ice room sucked

    Pros: We got to our room late to find out we couldn't shower cause no knob wasn't fixed the next day to learn we had to pack up move rooms this room was worse but could shower not happy at all
    Cons: Dirty fridge rusty not clean
