About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

Cons: I know I had a smoking room, but I’ve never been in one where the pillows still smelled like smoke from before or get charged $15 for a towel they said was stained but was going to get washed!! He did lower it to $10 but still a towel?

Cons: The cleaning was 1/10. Hair in the remote, vents held on with tape, holes in the ceiling tiles

Did NOT honor request for...

Pros: I stayed here in Feb. It was comfortable and had a decent breakfast. Staff was friendly. My 1st floor requirement was honored.

Cons: No handicap rooms with 2 queen beds. Was traveling with my handicap mother. Didn't end up staying here on my return visit in March because they did not hold a first floor room for me!! Impossible to get a handicap person to a 2nd floor room with no elevator!!! Was VERY disappointed!! We were tired and had NO place to stay!! Entire town was full and no 1st floor rooms available. Will never RISK making a reservation here again!!!

Pros: It was close to everything and location is convenient

Cons: Room was dirty and stains on pillows and sheets, paint is peeling from the ceiling in bathroom, black mold in bathroom, furniture is in bad shape. Had to place a fifty dollar deposit on a dump!!

Cons: I was charged twice once for the room and the second was for the room and deposit. I was told one was a hold. We will see. The room said it had an iron and a coffee macker it did now. We didn't stay for breakfast Bec people were complaining about it

Great accessibility

Pros: My husband is in a wheelchair and often accessible showers aren't accessible because the shower bench is at one end and the spray handle and faucet is at the other end. There is no way to control it. This one had a faucet in the middle. Worked great. Also bed was super comfy

I checked in shortly after...

Pros: It was all about what I didn't like. Bed mattress was old and worn out - it formed the equivalent of a sink hole in the middle. It was so bad I had to place pillows at the foot end of the bed so my head would be higher than my ft. There are old stains on the sheets. I left around 11pm that same night because other guests were noisy.

Cons: I told the manager about the mattress shortly after check in and he told me there were no other rooms. He didn't seem to care about the bad room.
