Four Points by Sheraton is an upscale hotel brand under the management of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, a unit of Marriott International. The hotel which targets business and leisure travelers mainly operates over 300 hotels in more than 40 locations across six continents, namely, North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, South America, and the Middle East. They are often found near the beach, by the airport and big urban centers.

The hotel chain’s latest opening is in Tanzania with Four Points by Sheraton Dar es Salaam, New Africa Hotel. The 174-room hotel opened on June 10, 2019, is the second property of the hotel in the country which was initially the official residence of the last German officer and King of Prussia Kaiser Wilhelm II during the World War I.

Cons: Weekend pool access is terrible when hockey tournaments are in town. Pool rules and discipline of minors non-existent unfortunately.

Cons: Front desk staff was nice. I noticed there was a policeman on the side street next to the property when we first checked in. I didn’t think much of it until we went to the pool later and I noticed there was a homeless gentleman spread out on a piece of land just across from the hotel. I did feel bad for the man and thought maybe he was just taking a brief rest. By the time we left the pool there were more homeless people around him that looked like they were squatting there for the night. I know it’s not something within the hotel’s control but when I pay over $200 for one night and breakfast, I wouldn’t think that would be a view we got. We also went for breakfast in the restaurant and the waitress was less than personable. She dryly greeted us and took our order. Not sure if she was having a bad day or is just generally introverted but customer service was definitely lacking. There was no follow-up after our food arrived to see if everything was ok nor any offer to refill drinks. The stay was okay in that we needed a clean room for the night and we got one, but there wasn’t a super wow factor that would cause me to rate anything higher than an 8.

Great for the money

Pros: Short stay, but everything was very clean and comfortable.

Cons: We asked for close rooms and initially they had us stay at different floors. When we mentioned the request they offered us queens instead of kings, but the rooms were adjacent.

Nice hotel near the 400...

Pros: Lovely hotel near Barrie, it is not in the downtown area, more so close to the main highway, 400. The rooms were nice and staff friendly.

Cons: The main complaint with the room was the poor sound proofing.
