Nice and comfortable

Pros: Very nice hotel, close to the city centre, comfortable and traditional in a good way :) Heating was working so it was warm despite somewhat chilly weather. Continental breakfast included in the price does not provide many choices but all food is good and of high quality. Nice terrace to enjoy it as well.

Pros: Lovely refurbished room/bathroom though pity the armchairs had not been reupholstered too and the very dated curtains had not been updated. Excellent comfy bed and good quality bedlinen and towels. Breakfast adequate but a shame they have stopped serving guests with tea/coffee brought to table, all help yourself now. Teapots rather than just small cups would be appreciated. I was up and down refilling our small cups! Pleasant reception staff and excellent new bar staff member. Staff good all round. Location is excellent for the river and city, the university etc.

Cons: We chose to eat in the hotel the first evening which was a mistake. Food not cooked, we had to send back as it was inedible. Was put right and handled well but should not happened. Only 2 tables were occupied, we now know why. Waiting and bar staff good. Menu not great. Very limited vegetarian options. Additional car park charges are steep but it is a good thing to have parking on site.

Cons: Fire alarm going off around midnight....it was apparently a smoke alarm from one of the rooms but unclear to me if we were supposed to evacuate or not. I ended up checking out with reception.

Pros: Everything was just perfect, and this was my second stay in the hotel, I even did not look for anything else. The staff is very welcoming and ready to solve all possible problems: no card was able to open my room, and I got a larger room instead for the same price. Warm and clean, very sufficient breakfast included.

Very Good

Enjoyable but not wonderful

Pros: The location is excellent which is why we chose it.the decor and ambience is comfortable

Cons: Parking costs are a bit cheeky, check in was slow, our rooms were nowhere near each other in spite of request made6 months in advance and there's no lift so our 70 year old had to struggle up 4 flights of narrow twisty stairs with her suitcase.

Really enjoyable with good food...

Pros: Location within Cambridge was excellent. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, and I especially loved the pastries and muffins. The room was comfortable and there were various Wi-Fis to connect to to ensure you had great internet connection wherever you went.

Cons: The only negative (which isn't a bad negative) I had was there was no mini fridge in the room. As I was there for work, I wanted to buy lunches and keep them in a fridge but was unable to do so. Again not a big negative by any means!

Average, I’ll just think I...

Pros: Clean and near to the event’s venue.

Cons: Room is next to noisy stairs, shower drain is slow. Breakfast is average. At least add some eggs for guests who are doing the half marathon as the rooms price are intentionally increased on this particular weekend.

Pros: Continental breakfast fine. Full English expensive.

Cons: There was no food available on Sunday night and the bar was closed. Not very good for a hotel.

Pros: room comfortable and able to park almost outside, the location on Jesus Green by the river is perfect with just a short walk to town

Disappointing

Pros: Comfortable bed, good shower and breakfast was ok, a great location for a visit to Cambridge.

Cons: The reception staff we're rude and inattentive. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them them at check in & check out and questions were not welcomed. Very loud extractor fan in the bathroom. Bar was not open. If there are other hotels available I'd look at them first before being ignored at this one.

Handy Hotel

Pros: Very handy on the edge of town, easy to get to and has parking (even though you have to pay extra for the parking)

Cons: Double bed felt small as I'm used to a king size. Having to pay extra for the parking

Pleasant

Ok for a night.

Pros: location is good; walkable to city centre. Price was ok car park at the rear of the hotel is good, free of charge for residents, and safe. You can pay to park there if you want to stay beyond checkout time. Room was very dated and up a lot of stairs, but it was ok for one night.

Cons: Rather dated. Bathroom was really quite poor. Very old and bits of mould around the windows and shower screen. It wouldnt cost much to fix such things so really disappointing. TV was tiny....but it did work!
