About The Park Hessarghatta

The Park Hotels is a five-decade old hotel chain comprising ten five-star luxury hotels across India, particularly in Goa, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam. It is recognized as the country’s pioneer of this hospitality industry segment.

The company, founded by Surrendra Paul in 1967,is now owned and managed by over a century old and Kolkata-based Apeejay Surrendra Group. The group created in 1910 has its foundation in steel before its operations expanded to financial services, retail, real estate, shipping, hospitality and tea industries. 

The chain’s first hotel is a 150-room property found in Park Street, Kolkata and was known simply as The Park. The hotel is popular today for its exciting after-hours entertainment featuring its 5000 sq. ft. international nightclub. The Park Visakhapatnam and The Park New Delhi subsequently opened their doors in 1968 and 1987, respectively. The hotel’s expansion was temporarily halted by the death of Surrendra in 1990. It only resumed in 2000 with the opening of The Park Bangalore. The Park Chennai followed in 2002.Priya Paul, Surrendra’s daughter took over the leadership.

In 2004, the Government of India’s Department of Tourism awarded The Park Kolkata the ‘National Tourism Award’ for excellent performance as the country’s best boutique hotel.
