Great place, disappointing outcomes. Check your A/C unit before maintenance goes to bed! Lol
Pros: Overall, the place is amazing. Attentive and friendly staff, big comfortable bungalows, thoughtful details. Loved the huge shower. Great location, great beach bar and restaurant. All things being equal, we would have loved it, but we had a few unfortunate things happen that really kind of spoiled our night.
Cons: We'd been on the road in Yucatan for 2 weeks and decided to splurge, relax on a beach and get pampered on our last night before flying home. And at first, it all seemed perfect.
Unfortunately, things went awry when a ceiling fan broke in our room, and our visit went downhill from there.
We'd had a swim and were relaxing in the beach lounge. My friend went back to the room to get something, and incredibly, a blade broke off the fan while he was nearby and it hit him in the head. Luckily, it was the paddle part and not the metal base, which could have literally killed him, but even so, he was woozy for most of the night.
The hotel concierge immediately sent a maintenance guy to fix it, which was great, but still, we had to wait about an hour or so in the room while the repair went on. Also, the manager came and asked what he could do to make it right, also great, but it was weird that we had to then say "uh, i don't know, maybe buy us dinner?" We feel like he could have just offered that right off the top, or even comped the room (our dinner and drinks was probably as much or more anyway, lol)
I want to point out that overall, the staff were great and did their best to make it right. You can't really predict that kind of thing, I guess. (Unless maybe, inspect the fans and rooms for stuff like that?)
If that had been the worst thing, it would be a side note. But it wasn't.
The A/Cwhich the resort only allows to be turned on after 7did not work properly. It was only blowing as a fan, not as cooled air, and it made for a torturous night. The room got stiflingly hot, neither one of us slept, (especially my friend nursing a sore head) and we found ourselves lying in soaking wet sheets from our pools of sweat. Not exactly the "one last night of comfort" we had hoped for. The next morning when I mentioned it, I was told "oh that was fixed yesterday" Except it wasn't.
