Such a warm welcome, comfortable and cosy room, I would highly recommend!

Pros: From the moment I set foot into the bar, the staff were so welcoming and even knew my name as I was the last customer with a room booked to arrive that day which, so I felt really welcome. The room was perfect with everything you could ask for, a hairdryer, kettle, a good choice of drinks including fresh ground coffee and a cafetiere! The bathroom and bedroom were spotless and very cosy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and there was a small desk so I could work. The free wifi was faultless, All the staff were so lovely.

Cons: This is definitely not the place for older people, the staircase to the room was the worst we have ever encountered for a long time. When I rang up to query this, I was told that there were two flights of stairs were quite easy to use, however, when we got there we found there was one flight then a small corridor then another flight both with twisty stairs. Unfortunately, as we are in our late 70s, we were tired and had to stay at this place otherwise we would have lost our deposit or full amount actually. When we reached the room we find that it is ensuite with tea and coffee facilities but we were horrified to find that the double bed on one side which is right up to the wall and on the other side, very slim place to get into the bed. Therefore anyone wanting to get up through the night sleeping on the inside, would have to wriggle down the bed to get out. This is not what we expected and certainly was not properly explained in the brochure et cetera as normally you would be able to get into a double bed from both sides. I am sure younger people wouldnt mind this inconvenience of very poor approach to the room and to the room itself, but I do wish you can somehow the show star ratings regarding the rooms and approach as In our opinion this is not the place for older persons, having to carry a little luggage and themselves!!!!

Pros: Comfortable rooms and lovely decor. Breakfast was excellent. Great setting next to the river with a large terrace and plenty of seating.

Cons: Only minor issues were parking - very small car park but we did get a space eventually. The shower in the room was very weak which was a shame as the bathroom was gorgeous and absolutely spotless.

A great place to stay in Totnes

Clean, comfortable, and really good food.

Pros: The location is excellent, and we were able to get parking at the venue during our stay - we were able to use the staff parking when the hotel parking was full. The staff were very helpful, and the food at the pub was very good, including the breakfasts. We had dinner there on two nights, and were very happy with it. Very close to the town centre, but quiet at night (we stayed Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights). The pub itself has a nice feel, and we had some drinks there one afternoon as well. Rooms were serviced daily and there were plenty of good sized towels. The main bed in our room was very comfortable.

Cons: We couldn't get a twin room, so we took the family room, but the smaller bunk bed wasn't as comfortable as the main bed. I also can't imagine getting a family in such a small room! It's probably better suited to just two people who share a bed. The only other issues are to do with the age of the building - narrow stairs, no lift, and the hot water is not really hot in the morning (but certainly is much better by the evening). But that's exactly what you'd expect in an old inn! It wouldn't stop me staying there again.

A quality experience with superb, well-trained staff.

Pros: Our room was "quirky" but very comfortable, if a little creaky about the floors. As a deluxe room it had plenty of space; enough even for a bath in the main room as well as the shower in the bathroom! Food in the restaurant was so good that we ate in for five evenings running. Breakfast had an excellent choice and was always freshly cooked. My wife's wheat allergy was absolutely no problem, with gluten-free choices available.

Cons: I think they have it about right.

Beautiful location right on the river, lovely clean and tasteful room.

Pros: The room was lovely - clean, modern and tastefully furnished. The location was fantastic, we sat outside in the evening and saw a seal swimming in the river. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. I'd love to visit again.

Cons: Quite a lot of steps up to the room - it didn't bother us but might be an issue if someone had mobility issues.

Great location but just not comfortable

Pros: Room was bright and airy but way too noisy both because of passing traffic and squeaky floorboards during night. Staff were friendly.

Cons: Food was not very appetising. Bill incorrect by almost 60 due to another guests dinner from the evening before being wrongly added to ours. Quickly corrected when brought to their attention but a major mistake none the less.

Pros: Well appointed very clean room

Cons: I had a cooked breakfast which was very good. My wife opted for the muesli drizzled in honey and yoghurt. She was directed to the table with fruit juices etc to self serve. 2 pots of yoghurt, no honey + no fruit available. The toast delivered was burnt black on both sides and we asked it to be returned. It shouldnt have even been served in that state-all for 15 each!! On top of 160 for the room for one night just not worth the money.

Excellent location, friendly & helpful staff, comfortable rooms & good supper.

Pros: Did not have breakfast. Lighter breakfast at modest price would have been appreciated.
