About Sydney Lodges Brand Hotels

Sydney Lodges is a boutique hotel chain scattered around prime areas in Sydney like Potts Point and Randwick. Most of the brand’s properties are also heritage-listed buildings with histories that make the brand’s hotels the destination themselves for many tourists. Sydney Lodges also has personal services that make the experience even more pleasing for guests. Dion Carnell, its marketing manager, grew up in the accommodation industry and took a marketing degree in the University of Technology, Sydney. He combined his background and education to practice what has brought Sydney Lodges back with more demands.

There had been a drastic drop in the demand of accommodations like the Sydney Lodges which challenged Dion a lot. According to him, it’s the travellers on a budget that are the large group of travel consumers who need to be catered to the most. In the past decades, the decline in the demand for travel services was caused by the companies’ inclination to luxury accommodations. The Sydney Lodges, in the direction of Dion, became a fusion of luxury service and budget stay. The team made efforts in providing home-like amenities that replace expensive champagnes and costly mini bar items. With trusted partnerships and strategic media campaigns, Sydney Lodges is drawing more tourism in the areas it covers.

Poor
Good location, but cockroaches

Pros: Location is excellent, staff is very friendly.
Cons: The hotel has a massive problem with cockroaches, they are running around in rooms and bathrooms, even a spray by housekeeping did not help. This was really disgusting. The bed in the single room is not comfortable and to short for people over 1,80m.

Disappointing
Great location but a lot...

Pros: The hotel was in a great location, with lots of great food places nearby. Check in for a late arrival was easy, with prompt email communication from the staff and key left in a lockbox.
Cons: The room was incredibly damp with a musty smell - all of our clothes felt damp whether worn or not. There was no lamp in the room, so we either had to have the main light on or use our phone torches for dim light in the evening. The WiFi was very slow and intermittently cut out.

Really happy with the stay,...

Pros: Lovely helpful staff, beautiful setting. Great area to stay at, so close to the city and fabulous coffee & food options. Very clean and well appointed. Such a funky old style guest house, it had a great vibe.
Cons: Telstra phone service in the building was very poor, but the wifi worked well. I had to do online meetings & work, so the phone service was a bit of an issue. Some hanging space/hooks on the walls would have been a bit handy, as I was there for a few days & it would have been good to hang some clothes. There are no lifts, and 3 stories of stairs, it wasn't an issue for me, but may be if there was limited mobility - something to be expected in this style of accommodation..

It was ok.

Pros: The staff were lovely and very helpful. Room was a decent size for a single room. Shared bathroom was clean.
Cons: The room had a very strong odour that I couldn't get rid of by opening the windows or spraying air freshener. I found a cockroach in my room which was disconcerting, though the staff were VERY helpful and even offered me a new room after office hours. The bed sheets were quite scratchy and uncomfortable, but luckily I was travelling with a $20 Kmart blanket so I just used that instead. The bed wasn't very long so if you're much taller than me (5"4) the single bed option is probably not for you. The aircon is set to 22 which you can't change so if you get hot easily, probably not for you. Also, there's a note in the room that says they monitor who leaves the air conditioning on when they're not in the room. I'm not sure how they know whether or not someone is in their room but it's a bit suspicious.

Words have not been invented...

Pros: Nothing. Absolutely disgusting customer service. They didn’t care that we couldn’t get to our room.
Cons: When we arrived we were advised we had been placed on the 3rd floor. 3 flights of stairs to climb with no lift. I’m 53 & my friend 63. We were on a 12 hour stop over flying home to Perth after a holiday in Honolulu. We both had heavy luggage 30kg case. We couldn’t climb the stairs with our luggage. Venue refused to help. They refused a refund us & we could not access our room. We had to pay $480 on top of the $250 we paid for this room to stay at the Haven Glebe. The Haven Glebe had a lift & were extremely helpful. Customer service at this place was disgusting.

Comfortable stay, great location!

Pros: The room was clean & comfortable. It is in a great location, close to public transport. Staff were friendly and helpful. They had our room ready earlier than the check in time which we really appreciated.
Cons: Our room faced the street so it was quite noisy particularly in the early morning when garbage trucks were doing the rounds. Also whenever someone walked up the internal stairs you could hear noise. This isnt the fault of the owners, it's just the location & the fact that it's an older building & not much sound proofing. The sliding door to the ensuite didn't shut properly & the vent above the the shower was dusty and needs cleaning.

Good place for a short...

Pros: The location was great, within walking distance from major tourist points, everything was very sanitary and the staff was very helpfull. I came in late but they had perfectly set it up so I could arrive later without any hassle or confusion.
Cons: The bed was too short for me. The room was very small for the price. The shower on my floor was out of order. The AC was preset to 22 degrees (which you aren't allowed to change) but I didn't notice/feel whether it was on or off. They had a TV but there was no wire connected so I couldn't watch TV, it was basically useless.

Brilliant

Pros: The location was amazing, plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Really easy to get into the city via train, again short walking distance away. The staff were really friendly and gave us suggestions about where to go while we were there.
Cons: Seems very petty but towels were a little hard on skin, and Wi-Fi not great. Other than that, everything was great for what we paid.
