We love The Churchill. Close...

Pros: We have stayed before a group of old school friends. We like to celebrate one of our birthdays in York and this is the best place for all of us to share a room. Having stayed before we have never sat and used the bar but puta stop to that. Love the friendly helpful staff.

Cons: We had a very small room on the second floor, having been spoilt before on previous visits. There was limited space around the slim beds. We did get it cheaper I suppose but would not want that for four adults in future.

Pros: Without exception, the staff at the Churchill were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We had booked a garden igloo for the evening and highly recommend the experience. The temperature inside the igloo was perfect, the music was lovely and our food was fabulous. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Amazing hotel and location but...

Pros: This is a truly beautiful hotel. The decor is gorgeous and the staff are all amazingly friendly and helpful. The beds are so comfortable. Brilliant location within walking distance of the town. We had a pod in the garden one night and the on site pizzas are scrummy.

Cons: I don’t have a bath in my house so I asked specifically for a room with a bath. However, the water was tepid. I was boiling kettles to up the temperature of the water. We asked at reception if there was any way of turning up the temperature but we were told it was for health and safety reasons. I’d do more damage to myself boiling the kettle and carrying it to the bath. It was such a shame. The only fault.

We had a very enjoyable...

Pros: The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the Minster which is ideal for access. The food, staff and ambience of the restaurant were excellent. The bed is large. The TV screen is very large.

Cons: Paying £15 per day for parking adds to the cost of the room. The room had no windows and the room felt very claustrophobic. The sink in the bathroom is small. There are no drawers in the room to store clothes. There is no shelf in the shower for soap, shampoo and conditioner, although there is a shampoo dispenser on the wall. We were asked when we booked if this was a special occasion which we stated it was our anniversary. Nothing extra special was provided. The WIFI did not work in our room.
