About Super 8 Motel By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Super 8 began its first operation in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1974 and has rooms rate starting at $8.88 a night, thus explaining the “8” attached to the hotel brand. From a simple motel chain, Super 8 grew immediately and became available for franchise 2 years after its conception. At present, it will cost you a minimum of $169,270 investment plus franchise fee to afford a Super 8 motel.

 

The business started with Dennis Brown in 1972. However, after one year of operation, Ron Rivett and Dennis Brown cancelled the association and created the Super 8 Motel corporation, splitting the company in half between them. By 1993, Super 8 opened its 1000th property in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a milestone achieved in just two decades of operation. The number doubled by 2001 and became available through online reservations in 2014 after the company launches its website worldwide. In the United States and Canada alones, Super 8 has more than 2000 properties. At present, The Super 8 brand has also reached China, Germany and Brazil.

 

Super 8 is now part of the Wyndham Hotel Group with more than 2400 locations around the globe, and considered the biggest name in the economy hotel industry. Super 8 hotels are either independently owned or franchised under the Super 8 Worldwide.

    Pros: Location was right by restaurants which made it great. Property was clean and entrance was clean.
    Cons: Upon registering when we went to our room it wasn't what we had reserved. Several months before we needed a room we made reservations for a king size bed in which we did not get. We were given a Queen size bed in which we did go straight back to the front desk and talked to the receptionist. She informed us that since they were full that she couldn't give us another room. I informed her that our room we had reserved months in advance should not have been given to anyone else. Whith that being said she apologized as she couldn't do anything. What we should have done was just check out and leave but we didn't. The next morning upon check-out I again explained what happened. The receptionist again informed me she would let management know. The management did me message me letting me know they were sorry and that they would put 20% back on our card. That was ok but still had we gotten our room we reserved in the first place we would have been happy. Our room itself one of the lamps on the nightstand the bottom was broken which made it wobble. I unplugged it as I didn't believe it was safe. Also the bathroom door looked to have something that looked like feces smeared on it in a couple places. We didn't shower as the shower head looked nasty as did the chaulk around the tub should have been redone. It was black nasty looking so yeah we didn't shower. Like I said above I should have told my husband we weren't staying. But we were 4 hours away from home and we're tired so I sucked it up and stayed. Will I reserve at this location again at the same place probably not.
