Super 8 began its first operation in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1974 and has rooms rate starting at $8.88 a night, thus explaining the “8” attached to the hotel brand. From a simple motel chain, Super 8 grew immediately and became available for franchise 2 years after its conception. The business started with Dennis Brown in 1972. However, after one year of operation, Ron Rivett and Dennis Brown cancelled the association and created the Super 8 Motel corporation, splitting the company in half between them. By 1993, Super 8 opened its 1000th property in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a milestone achieved in just two decades of operation. The number doubled by 2001 and became available through online reservations in 2014 after the company launches its website worldwide. In the United States and Canada alones, Super 8 has more than 2000 properties. At present, The Super 8 brand has also reached China, Germany and Brazil.

Super 8 is now part of the Wyndham Hotel Group with more than 2400 locations around the globe, and considered the biggest name in the economy hotel industry. Super 8 hotels are either independently owned or franchised under the Super 8 Worldwide.

Disappointing

Not so good

Pros: Had a somewhat nice jacuzzi tub and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Cons: It says pet friendly and says $15 per pet but I was charged $25/pet, which I had 2 dogs, and was told not to leave the room without them, which was a pain in the butt trying to carry stuff in. And they made a big deal out of me having two dogs and the lady had to call her manager to make sure I could have them and how much extra it would be and then made a big deal out of my dogs being 30 pounds each. Room was not clean, we found other people's belongings in our room. Was also hardly ever any staff working, had to wait almost fourty minutes to be able to check in and they give a number to call for service, which I called, and the phone literally rang at the front desk and no one came. Room was way overpriced and experience was not a good one. Would not recommend.

Pros: The whirlpool room is very decently priced and the room was very clean. Also very decently priced for being able to bring your dog along.

Cons: Even for a continental breakfast, most items were gone/lacking. There is also a $50 deposit that I had go contact the property 3x before it was returned. Just something to keep an eye on!

Pros: The hot tub was ok, but the chemicals were too high.

Cons: There was a dead baby cockroach in the room, no hot water, and the bedding was covered in cigarette burns. The entire hotel smelled like smoke even though the paper I signed at check in said no smoking. The room didnt appear to be cleaned hardly at all.

Cons: The cleaning lady was still cleaning our room when we went up to our room and didn't even finish cleaning. Our room was pretty dirty. The bed was made and clean though, just not very comfortable, very flat pillows and mattress wasn't that great either.

Cons: The sheets, blankets and pillow cases had cigarette burns in them and the towels were stained. There was dog feces in the corner of the room.

Pros: What breakfast?? All was offered was fruit cereal toast.

Cons: That we had to wait almost 2 freaking hours for the room to be ready, didn't get into our room till after 5 ,then the room was dirty, Chips on the floor cigarettes buts in the window seal.. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone..Sad

Pros: I didnt enjoy my stay at all

Cons: The customer service in this hotel is the worst Ive had to experience. The employees were rude. In one of the rooms I booked the bed was broken. They were rude to my children. They tried kicking us out of the pool an hour before it closed. The entire experience all around made me never want to stay at a hotel again
