An Old-fashioned style hotel with...

Pros: This hotel has a unique spirit, like from the Mafia game. Rooms are quite small, but clean. Ideal for short trips with strong experience. Location is the best benefit, you are 5min walk from Pier39.

Cons: The bathroom is common for all guests, but this is written in description on booking. I appreciate the old-fashion style of this hotel, but some fresh air will be good. :)

Great location, rich history and...

Pros: We absolutely LOVED this hotel with it’s rich history, that has been operational in this same building since 1906! The history practically oozes through the falls, with lovely decoration details scattered throughout its hallways and rooms. The shared shower cabinets and toilets were small, but functioned well and all tough small, our room had everything we needed for our 3 day trip. The coffee machine also deserves a mention! It provides the guests surprisingly great coffee from 7am to 1pm for FREE, and I strongly recommend to use it during your stay. Cafés nearby the hotel ask $5 to an americano, that honestly isn’t even better than what these cafe’s give you. But undeniably the best part of this hotel is location, location, location! Situated in the safe and historical North Beach, there are many interesting sites all within a walking distance of this hotel: Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, The Coit Tower, Alcatraz ferries. All of these are 15-25 min walking distance from the San Remo Hotel.

Cons: The shared bathrooms and showers in the hallway and not inside the rooms can be a dealbreaker for some, but this is not your run-of-the-mill backpacker euro hostel.

Pros: Amazing value for money in an expensive city. Location is excellent, too - safe, reasonably quiet & close to North Beach bars and restaurants. Very friendly staff. Would recommend highly

Pros: Location!

Cons: The only fault we could see with the San Remo Hotel was a little wear and tear, but this is natural considering it had been 24 years since we last stayed there.

Cons: Stayed here in 2019 and was looking forward to staying again. However, I was bitterly disappointed- the hotel used to be spotlessly clean. It’s not now. The three days we were there the same hair was in the floor in the toilets and shower areas. The carpet was filthy, mould in the room and the whole place looked scruffy! Such a shame for such a beautiful to have deteriorated so quickly. I wouldn’t stay again unfortunately

Pros: the service was excellent, location close to waterfront great, good choice of eating places nearby, fantastic coffee machine (with video!), shared bathroom was not as bad as could have been expected, and very social.

Cons: Room a little cosy, but eclectic, musty smell when we first went in.

Pros: Comfortable bed, cozy room with sink, we never had issues waiting for the toilet or shower (even though the hotel was full), clean, perfect location. We also enjoyed the restaurant downstairs.

Pros: Comfy, beautiful, cool architecture and historical furniture, features, decor etc. lots of personality and charm. Small rooms but lots of storage with convenient touches. Also themed, ours was smiles. Shared bathrooms located conveniently throughout. Great location. Quiet. Secure.

Cons: Only narrow stairs to get to rooms but indicative of the time built. Not a big deal. Parking off site for a fee.

Pros: Love the graciousness of the hosts.

Cons: Loud and Drunk guests but that wasn’t the hotels fault. After they went to their room seems like they passed out.

Excellent charming boutique hotel

Pros: Very clean, nice and quiet. It was really cool to stay in such a well preserved historical building, and the Italian restaurant attached had delicious food.

Cons: I wish the coffee machine was on 24 hours, but that's a pretty minor problem. 10/10 would stay again and plan to.
