About Red Roof Inn Brand Hotels

Economy hotels are aplenty in the hospitality business, but Red Roof Inn stands out from among the many options with its quality accommodations, and its experience in the industry. Red Roof Inn saw its beginning in 1973 in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded by Jim Trueman, but after his demise, his family was unable to run the company and soon saw the hotel purchased by a real estate fund company, the Morgan Stanley.

Years later, Morgan Stanley offered franchising opportunities for Red Roof Inn and the first franchise was in Branson, Missouri. Accor Company eventually purchased the Red Roof Inn from the Morgan Stanley which saw Red Roof Inn boom to expand to 37,208 rooms in 324 locations.

After the purchase, Accor was deemed to be the third largest owner of hotel chain worldwide. But in 2007, Accor sold Red Roof Inn to Westbridge Hospitality Fund LP and Global Special Situations Group for $1.3B.

Westbridge Hospitality Fund then decided to expand the chain year after year. They opened new hotels in different locations including Brazil, Thailand, Japan, and Canada. One of the brand extensions is the Red Roof Plus that was launched in 2014. It is more expensive as compared to the Red Roof Inn. The amenities were improved such as enhanced LED lighting, outside signage, and new room type.

Another midscale hotel under the umbrella of Red Roof Inn was launched in 2018 called the Red Collection. It is in Downtown Chicago and later expanded in the New York City and Illinois.

Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: My bathroom had wet towels with pubic hair hanging up, that weren't mines. So I had to grab a clean towel to get rid of a few used, wet rags. I was disappointed. Then she put me next to a room full of guys repairing the rooms. I was traveling alone, this did not make me feel safe. There was a room next to me that they were working on. Very uncomfortable spot to put me in.

Pros: Breakfast- There couldn't been a bigger selection, but it wasn't terrible. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was hydrofoil and friendly.

Difficult to sleep and not...

Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: The location was bad (not a good area of town). It was close to the freeway and dining which was good. The pool was closed for no apparent reason which was disappointing. The room smelled of smoke despite being non smoking. Appliances in the room were not well maintained or didn’t work and my child’s feet got black just from walking on the floor in the room. They expected social distancing in a dining area that would not accommodate it. would not recommend for anyone really but especially not families.

We’ll call this place Red...

Pros: The only thing to like was 4 walls and a roof.
Cons: The first room we were given had dirty sheets, a non-working phone, and the smoke alarm chirped every 30 seconds. Oh and the garbage can was on top of the AC unit outside. The second room was fine, but noisy and the beds were uncomfortable. When we were leaving, there was a rusty razor blade on the ground outside our room (might have been there when we arrived), and there were no tongs available to grab the unpeeled hardboiled eggs at breakfast, which meant who knows who else touched those eggs. Oh and you have to sign a “no visitors” policy, which was probably the first sign.

Poor
