About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

Pros: Price and clean

Cons: Breakfast was disappointing. Basically offered individually wrapped dingdong and sweet pastries. There was no fresh milk or cream for coffee only powdered cream. Also, no decaffeinated coffee as my wife cannot have caffeine. Also, there were no sugar substitutes.

Cons: No elevator that we could find, only stairs (husband has some mobility issues), facilities (like carpet, floors) dirty, roaches in bathroom, very poor layout for breakfast...cereal (no bowls), few packaged danish options...not like pictures on booking.com for sure...I just felt like I couldn't touch anything and didn't want to sleep in bed so I sat in armchair most of night (desk chair had duct tape on each arm)...stain on sheets as well. Overall very disappointing stay...not a true representation from pictures.

Pros: Location was ideal. Room was quiet .Check in staff friendly and helpful. Finding parking was very easy.

Cons: My room keys did not work my entire stay. I called the front desk and let them know so they sent someone to try to fix it but we still had the same issue. The room was never serviced at all during my stay. Sheets were dirty when we checked in. And BUGS!

Pros: The rooms were adequate and the ac worked well.

Cons: The hotels breakfast was a joke. They had cereal and yogurt. The hotel was in the middle of vagrants central. Mostly the worst of all was the overwhelming smell of illegal weed through the whole floor. My whole family smelled like it when we left that morning.

Cons: There was no elevator so you had to carry your luggage up a large staircase, unassisted. The room had a cockroach infestation, they were crawling around as soon as I opened the door I saw them so we didn't stay there. The hotel carpets were very dirty and looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. The lady at the front counter was not very polite and seemed bothered that I wanted a refund. This was my first ever stay at a Days Inn and I would never book a stay at a Days Inn again because of the filth and lack of customer service.

Cons: It was horrible the property is nasty and people standing outside and sitting in their cars. A lot of suspicious activity. Soon as I walked into the room, there were roaches all over the bed. I took a picture of it. Went back to the front and let the clerk know, they gave me another room and I walk in and there was roaches on the floor, picked up the phone and roaches were all over it. Disgusting I go back to the front and they tell me they can't give me refund since I booked it and they couldn't give me anything stating that I didn't even stay the night in that roach infested place. And I still haven't got my money refunded.
