I recommend Playa Azul.

Pros: Great location north of town. You will need transportation if you want to travel to town. Lots of options. Hotel is in good condition and most of the staff are very good. Breakfast was good, onsite meals and bar were good.

Cons: Co-located dive/snorkel center was not super helpful. Mask, snorkel and fins were marginal. Centrally located pool is nice and great for families, but a bit noisy for those of us trying to sleep in.

Superb

Pros: Directly on the beach. Plenty of beach chairs, great breakfast. Easy cab ride to town.

Exceptional

Pros: The snorkelling at the beach was filled with so much marine life. We travelled all over Riviera Maya and this has been our favorite hotel. The plumbing worked as it should, clean room, helpful staff, security at the parking lot so we didn't have to worry about our scooter. So awesome!

Cons: The beach club bar was unwelcoming and expensive. Save your money and go across the street to eat

Pros: Nice boutique resort. Restaurant and bar on site. Simple. Good. Good breakfast included. Best part was the service from friendly staff like Roberto, Martin and Kermit, who is always a pleasure, among others who I do not have the names of at the moment. The entire staff is obviously well trained and happy to have guests, (important). Keep your expectations in check and you will be pleased. If you need all the facilities to be perfect, go next door to the Westin.

Cons: The shower pressure could be improved. A little upgrade for the corroding and aging shower doors would be nice.

Pros: The staff was amazing. Always greeting you with a smile and happy to help. Roberto would greet us at the front desk every day and was very helpful with reservations. The breakfast staff was attentive and kind. The bartenders were great fun! Hats off to the sweeper who kept the floors impeccably sand free and the housekeepers who kept our room clean and stocked. The location was perfect, far enough to be away from crowds, but close to the action by taxi. The beach is small but lovely. Good snorkeling.

Pros: The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and the view on the ocean was pretty. The breakfast was ok, not the best, but had different options

Cons: False advertisement the hotel doesnt provide basic snorkelling equipment for free, you have to pay to use it per hour (super expensive, you better but your own!). When we raise the issue with the hotel team they didnt provide any solution, same for booking customers service (very disappointed). The restaurant food was expensive and terrible, avoid at all coast

Pros: Valentines week vacation was everything we had hoped for and better! The free breakfast was more than expected for sure. Our ocean view room was fantastic. The room was huge and beds were very comfortable. We slept well. Maid service was a treat.

Cons: We would have used a workout gym if they had one. We enjoyed our long morning walks anyway. We'll be back soon we hope!

Valentines week at Playa Azul on Cozumel was fantastic in every regard.

Pros: The room we had was very accommodating and very comfortable. The beds were great, high quality linens, and extra towels in the bathroom. The ocean view was wonderful, the deck was very nice. We had the best breakfast every morning. Staff at breakfast were always there for anything. Coffee was always good. The beach and palapas were very cool. The over all value is hard to beat. We had read many Playa Azul reviews before making our reservation for valentines week. As always there are the people that pick out details that have little to do with overall enjoyment. We found nearly everything was as expected or better. We love Cozumel, and now we love Playa Azul! Can't wait to get back to our now favorite hotel!!!
