Comfortable stay in a good location when visiting Santa Monica

Pros: Great central location in Santa Monica close to the beach, shopping and restaurants Revitalisation of an old property

Cons: Property needs some refurbishment as it feels dated Not much help with your baggage so travel light Its an old building so floors and and walls can be transparent

Nothing bad or wrong with the hotel - seemed pricey for lack of amenities. Could use some help adding in more functional

Cons: No pool, no gym and no bar. Felt like our room was quite expensive without these amenities. Odd that there were no throw pillows on the couch, bad lighting in the bathroom and very minimal space to put anything in bathroom on a counter or dresser

Relaxing place to stay in quite a busy and stressful city.

Pros: The hotel has lots of character, and is a relaxing place to stay. It is well situated, within two or three blocks of the sea and the same distance from the main shopping drag in Santa Monica. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the room offered a pleasant view out to palm trees.

Cons: The hotel has no bar, which is a shame for those of us who like a nightcap. The wifi is low-security. The rooms could benefit from a microwave.

I only stayed one night because I got to Santa Monica pretty late, but the room I stayed was not clean, smelled funny. I

Cons: The room was extremely dirty.. needs to be updated. Stains on the nightstand and tub.. hair all over, empty water bottle, dirty sheets, sink dirty.

Cool place but too impractical and uncomfortable considering the price.

Cons: The hotel has no restaurant and no alcohol service. Therefor no real roomservice and not that many people hanging around making it feel quite empty. Maybe this was visible in the booking but I didn't find out until we got there. The building is old and really cool. However for the price I would expect the rooms to be updated more than just paint and new carpet. There was only heating/cooling in the bedroom and not the living room (we hade a suite) making it really cold in the morning, especially in the bathroom / shower. Also badly replastered walls presumably from some sort of damage that you wouldn't expect in an establishment like this. The bathroom was cool looking, again very old, but also very unpractical. Terrible lighting, very little storage and the hot water was just hot enough for a shower but not enough for a bath. Also no heat or cooling making it very uninviting in the late October morning when temperature was around 55 degrees (inside and outside) There were also literally zero accessible outlets in the bedroom which also probably relates to the age of the building but doesn't really function in the modern day world where you want to charge phones, watches and other stuff for your next day adventures. I completely understand that you'd want to keep the old world charm of a place like this, but surely it must be possible to include some modern stuff like ventilation, heat and proper lighting and storage in bathroom, a couple of sockets here and there, sound insulation in walls and basic stuff like that. Again, for the price per night I would definitely expect better basic build standard even though the place def had a vibe.
