Pros: Lovely old hotel in a great location. Close to restaurants, bars and shops and opposite beautiful pavilion and park. Comfortable, clean very friendly staff.

Cons: It could do with a bit of TLC Some rooms do look a bit dated and need freshening up. We have stayed before but the breakfast wasn’t very nice this time. It was all a bit baked up from being under the hot plates and the quality of the food wasn’t as good. Shame really. It Wouldn’t take much effort to make this an amazing place to stay.

Old fashioned but great central...

Pros: Buffet breakfast was good but a bit disorganised as most of the items had run out so it was necessary to wait for them to be topped up. However breakfast was good overall. Perhaps a few more staff would have improved the experience.

Cons: Our room was very old fashioned with creeky floorboards which made the wardrobe rattle. Good sized tv. It's a very old building and suffering from faded grandeur. Overall good value for the price paid.

Pros: The room was large, the four poster bed comfortable and the bathroom roomy with good facilities and excellent shower.

Cons: The communal areas could do with an update, the first impression isn't good and the reception has a hostel like feel. The staff in the restaurant seemed unsure of their roles and would benefit from supervision and training in hospitality.
