About La Quinta Inn & Suites By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Servicing guests from the United States, Mexico, Canada and Honduras, La Quinta Inns & Suites started with humble beginnings in 1968 during the HemisFair also known as the San Antonio Texas World’s Fair. Founded and built by entrepreneur Sam and Phil Bharshop, they built the La Quinta Inn or the “The Country Villa Inn” and later on became the first hotel under the successful brand La Quinta Inn & Suites.

 

The first ever La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in San Antonio, Texas also served as the headquarters of the brand. It was later on relocated to Irving, Texas in 1999. In 2005, LQ Corporation, the company behind the La Quinta hotel brands agreed to be acquired by the Blackstone Group for a whopping $3.4 billion, both in cash and in debt. The merger materialized and was completed in January of 2006.

 

At present, company and franchised hotels under the La Quinta Inn & Suites are consisted of more than 87,500 rooms, around 890 properties in total located in different locations in all the 48 states in the United States. Hotel branches in Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Honduras area also included in this number, segregated under the La Quinta Inn & Suites, La Quinta Inn and the LQ Hotel brands.

    Good and not so good

    Pros: We have stayed here before. Staff is always friendly. We will most likely continue to stay there because it is convenient to our destination.
    Cons: The bathroom wasn't as clean as it could have been. There was an empty makeup packet on the counter left from whoever was there before. The shower floor looked like it had not been cleaned. We went to breakfast around 7:45 and we had adequate food but when we got the scrambled eggs, there was very little left and the 20 or so minutes we were there, the eggs were not refilled.

    Cheap is not always better.

    Pros: Hotel was cheaper than most around in the area
    Cons: Woke up to use the restroom and found several cockroaches on the restroom floor.

    Cons: Upstairs above me there were cids stomping on the floor and making noise. The microwave did not work in the room . Also my bed comforter had a hole in, but I had it replaced!

    Pros: The overall location was convenient and there was enough parking.
    Cons: The rooms weren't restocked with towels or toiletries daily, and i had to ask the front desk for new supplies. and the morning breakfast left a lot to be desires. The fitness center was under construction.
