Pros: The helpful and friendly staff. The delicious food. The big tub.

Cons: The master bedroom bed was sunk in the middle. From our villa, we could see the outdoor tub of the next door villa. The spa at 3pm was so hot! The sun was setting and it shone directly onto our massage bed. We were both perspiring throughout the massage and the ladies couldnt help even though they tried.

Cons: The food is not good and very slow service for food. On our first night there, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for food after ordering it at dinner time. We ordered at 9pm and got our food at 10:30 pm and the food quality is not at all 5 star resort quality. While booking we requested gluten free breakfast for our Coeliac daughter which Resort promptly replied back to us and assured they will take care of it. But when we arrived for breakfast on day 1 a big disappointment. They offered only fruit salad and other salad for a 10 year old. My daughter doesn't eat eggs, they said they can provide gluten free bread but no separate toaster, no pancakes, roast potatoes or anything else. For complimentary afternoon tea again no gluten free option. In Ubud there are few gluten free places that make gluten free cakes, brownies and other sweet treats so it shouldnt have been difficult for hotel to arrange but they didn't bother. They knew a guest needs gluten free diet well in advance, at time of check in I reminded again and they replied don't worry we have a note here. But they made no efforts to provide this diet. Didn't expect such an attitude from such an expensive 5 star resort. Totally ruined our holiday. We paid AUD 1700 for 2 nights. Totally not worth it

Very friendly staff in an old and uncomfortably rustic hotel.

Cons: Old, not very well maintained (not as expected), could be cleaner, furniture could be comfortable and still be rustic. Not the type of hotel that makes you be willing to kill a day of tourism around to stay in and relax to enjoy the facilities. There are very few, If I can say, facilities. Overpriced and nothing reminds you of Loccitane, apart form the tiny stuff in the toilet and maybe the spa (which we didnt use). Our reservation in Booking.com mentioned there were activities included, but when we asked about such activities, nobody in the Hotel had an idea of what that meant. We moved to another hotel and then could make a comparisson unfortunately Kupu Kupu Barong is not worth the money you pay. I say this with lots of regrets, because the people there were very nice in general.

Pros: Amazing location, just a short car ride away from the main town. Lovely breakfast with good variety for all dietary requirements. Super friendly and helpful staff, always going out of their way to assist you.

Cons: Villa could have been cleaner. The room was not ready for us so a deep clean was required.

Excceded our expectation

Pros: We spent a night at this gorgeous hotel which was exceptional in every way . it is nestled in the mountains with the most panoramic views of hills and the river below . This was our 8 th hotel stay in Bali as we are doing a road trip around the whole island . The bedroom was incredibly spacious and beautifully decorated . The breakfast was excellent and the staff amongst the friendliest weve met who were attentive to our every need . There are stairs down to rooms however hotel provide a buggy service which we did use . Due to location just on outskirts of Ubud the hotel also provide a shuttle service into town . i highly recommend this hotel and their staff and sound definitely stay again
