    Nice location, nice room, poor...

    Pros: Good location Friendly staff
    Cons: Small corridors to room, could hear neighbouring guest rooms. Ordered breakfast, over priced, and trays were left in room, not cleared. Staff did say to mention if room needed cleaned but often when we required cleaning nobody was at the reception desk.

    Would absolutely recommend if you...

    Pros: Jorvik house is in a great position near the city centre, a short trip through the museum gardens gets you most places quickly. The room was tidy, comfortable and had everything you'd need. Breakfast is available as a continental option, but I didn't try it so can't comment. The bathroom was good with a great shower, always something that makes me happy. The only complaint I have is with the wifi. I don't know if it was having a bad time but it was slow and kept cutting out on me so I had to restart my laptop in order to access it.

    Pros: The minibar is huge and there is a kettle, the room is clean and new. Good location.
    Cons: We were accommodated on the -1st floor, we had a stroller and luggage, and it was not very convenient to drag it up the narrow stairs. They ask for a deposit of 150 pounds.

    Pros: Location was amazing, staff were great
    Cons: Top luxury twin wasn’t luxurious. Paint coming away from walls in bathroom, towel rail wouldn’t turn off making the room boiling, not spacious enough to separate the twin beds.

    Huge potential as it's in...

    Pros: The room at Jorvik house was lovely - newly decorated with a smart bathroom and big bath. The bed was comfortable and the wardrobe space adequate. The minibar was well stocked and not too overpriced. In terms of location, it was good for a walk into the centre, especially during the day when the park is open and acts as a shortcut - 10 min stroll. The staff we met were not overly friendly and a bit brusque however, as we left in the morning, the person on duty was dealing with a customer who had unwisely had a bit of a party and they were very polite and firm for the good of all other guests at the hotel. We felt like they'd be on our side if we needed them.
    Cons: Hidden costs - be mindful that the only parking is in the municipal car park behind which is easily accessible but costly - our friends arrived Friday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon - the car park cost them £46!!! Breakfast is pre-order only and comes in from external provider - we might have missed this on the info but it was disappointing and really expensive £8.50 for a bacon roll. We didn't use this and went into town instead.

    Pros: Great little hotel, happy staff and room size was good for us as a couple. I understand the reviews about lack of soundproofing but it didn't disturb us. Perfect location in York, short walk into town and hardly any external noise.

    Perfect location if travelling by...

    Pros: I was travelling alone to attend an evening event in York centre, I travelled by train and the property is a few minutes walk from the station (use the foot bridge) and a ten minute walk to the city centre. The room had everything I needed and also had a well stocked mini bar. Spotlessly clean with a nice scandi theme. I did not book a breakfast as I had an early start. As a lone traveller I appreciated the 24 hr reception when returning late in the evening. I stay in York for events regularly and will definitively book Jorvik House again.
    Cons: Yorvik House had everything I needed.
