I would rate our five night experience as outstanding and would highly recommend.

Pros: We enjoyed our top-floor Balcony room overlooking the lake ( room 546 ). We sat out there at every opportunity and fortunately the weather was wonderful. The dinning experience, two dinners and breakfast each morning, was fantastic and wine was very good and reasonably priced. Carmelo and the team, including Natalia, were fantastic with a welcoming smile on every occasion. The lactation was great, walking distance to everything including the boats and old township.

Cons: The room sound proofing could have been better.

Lovely old lake-front property, easy walk to anything you might need, including a grocery store.

Pros: Breakfast was good, selections okay. Service was friendly and efficient. Beautiful view of the lake from our balcony. Great lake-front park to walk in. Property showing its age, but it provided an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go, including the ferry to the islands just down the street. Great light blocking curtains. Friendly front desk attendants. Parking was free, a short walk away.

Cons: Shower deflector not long enough to keep the water from going on the floor. Seemingly no insulation in the walls, as the first night the people next to us might as well have been in our room. Luckily they weren't there the next night.

Pros: Beautifully appointed hotel close to lake and ferries.

Cons: There was a very noisy disco nearby.

Loved the proximity to all of the attractions, including the ferry to the islands. It was fabulous.

Authentic hotel in lovely little town.

Pros: Hotel has a vintage feel, which was somehow appropriate for the area. Really great location plus gave access to the pool at the hotel down the road (which was lovely).

Cons: Breakfast was fine, but wasnt amazing.

Pros: Fabulous views from room (paid extra for lake view), beautiful furnishings, comfortable room.

Cons: Took adapter for uk plug and wouldnt fit in bedroom sockets. Luckily it fitted into bathroom one. Had fitted in other sockets in Milan hotel I stayed in. Sometimes reception staff not overly welcoming, but not unhelpful.

Avoid until they refurbish it completely

Pros: The location is very good, unfortunately that's the only plus for this hotel.

Cons: The rooms and the hotel are outdated and are in desperate need of a refurbishment, old bathrooms, beds furnitures, chairs, sheets and blankets. The light in the rooms was terrible, a single old bulb. The service and the staff are not up to the cost per night. The breakfast is very poor, nothing was freshly cooked and poor choice and quality of the food. We were expecting a completely different service and ambient.

Pros: Staff very helpful with every enquire. Main ding room staff great, Rafa attended to every need. Menu was good, loved the duck, veal, fish, sweets variety great. Pasta a bit too aldante for us. Size of servings pleantiful. Hotel local and views from both 602 and 314 superb. Loved our stay and would come again. Apart from issues in we didnt like section below would highly recommend this hotel.

Cons: Breakfast could have had a bit more variety ie: good sausages and fried tomato. Bed mattress in both rooms were very hard. Ended up with sore hips and shoulders. Room 314 was very cold. Had to get an extra blanket. Room 602 was fine. Warm because it got the daily sun exposure. Aircon - had to ask front desk to turn it on there so you could use it in your rooms. It only worked on cooling, does not warm rooms so that is why we needed an extra blanket to keep warm in bed

Stresa is a beautiful interesting town and there are many other better hotels than Milan Sperenza.

Pros: The location near the ferry terminal in Stresa with lovely lake views was great.

Cons: It was so disappointing as the hotel was expensive and not up to the advertised standard. There is no airport shuttle despite it being included in the description.The public areas of the hotel were old but in good repair but the rest of the hotel and rooms badly need updating. It was more than faded glory in that linens were thread bare,the shower was dangerous to use, bathrooms had broken fixtures and were mouldy, no fridges, poor lighting and mattresses lumpy. You could hear conversations in adjacent rooms. Breakfast was very basic and served in a small crowded room. When we asked about a fridge we were told that they didnt include them for environmental reasons and they could put one in if required. I think the electrical circuit would not have coped as it was so old- certainly not environmentally friendly. Modern adapters would not fit the old powerpoints but we were told we could buy one to fit from reception for 5! Reception reluctantly loaned one and we bought one for the other room. The manager offered us different rooms but as the shower situation was the same we declined.

Great place to stay for easy access to everything

Cons: No adapters for the electric plugs and plastic cups in the rooms. Some staff were not as friendly as others and as we were in the newer building we werent offered to breakfast in the much fancier red building unless we asked

A relaxing and fun short stay in the centre of Stresa
