Only stay if you have to

Pros: Good location

Cons: Very old fashioned, bad smell in the corridors and rooms, AC locked to cool, uncomfortable beds. No idea how it was ever an 8.3 score, as they advertise in the reception. It feels like it hasnt been updated at all during the 21st century.

Stayed just one night because of an early flight the next day.

Cons: Requested an early check in. No communication back. When I eventually was able to check in the room I entered had not been cleaned. Breakfast was unsanitary with rotting fruit and fruit flies. Very dated decor. Beds hard as rocks.

Pros: Very clean and tidy. The location is perfect, just next to the pier and the center of Madalena. The breakfast was great: a wide variety of products with great quality.

Pros: I don't understand why so many people are complaining about this hotel. It is as close to the ferry terminal as you can get. , The rooms are clean and tidy. The pool has a nice view on Faial, and is beeing cleaned every morning (and they are probably the only ones having a pool in Pico anyway...) You can walk in less than 5 minutes to all the different tour operators (Diving, Hiking, Whalewatching, Rentalcars....) and restaurants. It is maybe a bit dated, but I felt like they were doing their best at being welcomig. They even organise a mini breakfast buffet from 04 a.m - 7 a.m for people leaving early on hikes or diving tours...! Keep in mind that every Airbnb in the area is more expensive , without offering you room service, breakfast or a pool area. If you come to Pico for its great nature activities, and want an easy hotel, thats your place to go!!

Cons: The bathroom was clean, but there was a bit of a smell in the sink. Maybe it was just our room, but it was not so nice. Anyway, this was not a dealbraker, just a little imperfection.

Convenient and a bit pricey for provided services and standard

Cons: A type of a big complex where you feel the staff are employees. They provide you what you ask for, but thats all. Very different experience vs many others places weve stayed in at Azores.

One night on Pico

Pros: The hotel is in an ideal location if you plan to arrive or depart by boat, as the ferry terminal with services to Faial and So Jorge is right across the street. We arrived in the early morning from So Jorge and left the next morning for Horta. Other locations like restaurants and car rental locations are also within easy walking distance. We were able to store our luggage after arriving early. The room itself was fine, decently sized with a balcony and a well-functioning air-conditioning. The breakfast was large with many different options, but was a bit hectic overall. There is also a pool, though due to time constraints we were unable to use it.

Cons: The room and especially the bathroom felt dated and could use a good make-over to bring it more up-to-date with modern expectations. Reception staff friendliness was a bit hit-or-miss. Overall it was a good choice for a one-night stay.

Other than that I would recommend the hotel

Cons: We did see some coach roaches in the hallway a few times. That was a negative

Exceptional

Pros: We had a nice and comfortable room with a little basket of fruits for your welcome. The room had a nice balcony with a view to the harbour and Faial. In a minute you can reach the harbour and the city centre. There is a cleaning service everyday (if you need it). The breakfast buffet is really big and has a lot of offerings (they even had soy milk and milk without lactose; lots of bread, ham, cheese, cereals with different seeds, lots of fruits, many cakes, eggs, beans and so on...). The staff is very polite. We are not used to big hotels and normally stay at smaller/simpler places so we missed nothing at all.

Cons: We are not sure if the price is legitimate but we don't have any possibility for comparisons.
