Very poor value for money charged

Pros: Location for work

Cons: The room was old, dated and in poor condition for the price charged. The bathroom was disgusting, dirty toilet, cracked and broken panels and a stained floor around the toilet. Cobwebs in the room with large spiders

Cons: Barman using hands to get ice from ice bucket,for his drink, put us off asking for an iced drink. Bar lady sucking on what looked like a gob stopper, behind bar, when serving, hole under carpet in room, banna beds, due to mattresses, fusty smell in bathroom, no pressure in shower, radiators didn't work, not asked if everything was ok with our stay on checkout.

Value for money country hotel.

Pros: Very friendly owner and staff. Restaurant excellent. Historic property kept authentic but modernised sympathetically.

Cons: Slightly tired decor like limescale on toilet handle and washbasin and cistern loose.

Stay at the Hardwicke Hall Manor Hotel

Pros: The staff were very friendly and could'nt do enough for us, food was very good but a bit

Cons: To many stairs, no lift available due to very old building, my mother struggled up the stairs, basically no good for people with mobility issues, also we were charged an extra 10 on arrival for a twin room even though Booking.com allowed me to book a twin room for 10 less which i thought was not right and unfair, the hotel should of taking it up with Booking.com to claim the 10 back.

Pros: Good, quiet location.

Cons: The place looks very tired, our cocktails were on draught, our champagne was t properly chilled. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and the furniture was what youd expect in a motorway service area.

Meh - mediocre

Pros: We love the quirkiness of this old building and the peaceful surroundings that surround it. You can take a really good walk down to the coast not more than 10 minutes away by car if the grounds are not enough for you. You can tell that the owners love the place and the family vibe is great. Breakfast is really nice but could be more generous on the alternatives to the full English

Cons: Unfortunate circumstances with fowl, overpowering, noxious drain smells in the bathroom meant we couldn't open the bathroom door without wretching at the smell backing up from the drains. Whilst a remedy was suggested it did not work and so resulted in us having to move rooms.. unfortunately we then went in to a lesser standard room from a superking bed to an uninspiring double. Plus side was no smell; mega downside was being dive-bombed by a plethora of ladybirds that took a liking to the ceiling rose area. Nope! A visit to reception and two more sets of keys to choose an alternative room. We managed to decamp, pack up and get dressed again as it was late evening, and drag our own luggage out and up several small flights of uneven stairs in this 500+ years old building. This resulted in a clean comfortable room and a good night's sleep. The next morning came and the disappointment of a shower whose flow strength was that of a garden hose in a drought summed up a stay that was more like hard work than leisure. We did speak with one of the owners after breakfast and whilst he was apologetic, his attitude was a little indifferent and promises of "sorting something out the next time you come" if we booked direct, was very lack-lustre and no recompense for a stay that took more effort out of us than the rest and relaxation we were looking forward to. This was our third stay at the hotel but we are not sure that a further visit will be in the offing now.

Cons: The bed was so uncomfortable I may as well slept on the floor it would have been softer and the toilet was only fixed on one side so it nearly tipped over when you sat on it

Cons: I had porridge and me and my wife both had a cooked breakfast,I asked that she have the breakfast as I got porridge,because she is a slow eater and I thought it rude to leave her to wait while I had porridge...I recieved porridge and my wife relieved breakfast,then when I had finished porridge,my breakfast came which had obviously been cooked at the same time as my wife's and kept warm,it was totally dried up....not a good method.
