Fabulous location with endless potential let down by indifferent service.

Pros: This was our second stay in two years. We loved the location and family rooms so much we came straight back. The position on the sea, right next to Valletta and the funky shaped family friendly pool were perfect for us as a family of five. Breakfast had lots of choice and the rooms are really well sound insulated. The rooms are a bit tired decor wise but the beds are huge and very comfortable. Staff members were friendly and efficient for the most part, aside from the bar staff and one of the spa ladies. Facilities are good but its a pity the indoor pool is always closed in August.

Cons: Sadly since everyone is holidaying again post pandemic the service has diminished. When we arrived we were assigned a dire bedroom on a high up floor without any outside space, even though I had booked a family room and requested a ground floor terrace the previous November, some 9 months earlier. The girl at reception said there was nothing she could do but thankfully Carmelo stepped in, who I remembered from the previous year, and he saved the day. We got our ground floor room after about a couple of hours. The hotel was very crowded and breakfasts felt manic and tense. Things did improve when they opened up the second restaurant to cope with the overcrowding. I still find the cappuccinos and lattes cost extra rule somewhat baffling though. Half way through our stay the shower from the room above us started leaking onto one of the kids beds so we had to do an after dinner room swap which ruined an evening. Whilst the staff were apologetic we werent offered anything to compensate for the hassle. Not even a free latte, let alone anything else. Service in the bar was horrendous, every drink took forever and sometimes wed be handed the bill after one round of drinks when we wanted to stay for more. The cocktails were watery because they clearly used the wrong kind of ice in the shaker and the cosmos were made with grenadine instead of Cointreau depending on which bar staff you got. The kids cordials had separate extra charges for the water so in the end we brought our own water! Also I had a gel manicure in the spa which chipped after three days. When I went back to ask if the chip could be touched up, You think its our fault? was the response! I couldnt be bothered with the frostiness so in the end I just made do with my shoddy nails. Then, the evening before we checked out I made the point that the bar service was below standard for a four star hotel and that the room move had had a big impact on our stay.

Excellent. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Central. Easy access to Valletta City places of interest and restaurants but also to the bus terminus serving the rest of the island and the Valletta - Sliema and Valletta - Three Cities water ferries. Short taxi ride from the airport. Big room with balcony and good view despite being inland facing. Complimentary bottled water provided. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast with plenty of food options. Helpful reception desk and also transport desk ( for arranging taxi for early morning flights ). Outside swimming pool open end of October in view of ongoing hot weather.

Cons: Liked it all. I visit Malta regularly and will certainly stay again.

Really wonderful

Pros: The location of the property was amazing, the outside/pool are was just fabulous, could always get sun beds and the pool was fabulous. A little dated and probably need a refurb of the pool tiles, as slippery if walking in, but if you use the steps then fine. Lovely breakfast with all you could eat. We would definitely stay there again.

Cons: The slippery pool when walking in. And the AC in the rooms where not amazing, enough but never really cool.

Pros: Good location, rooms were of a reasonably size,quality of food was good with a good selection of options at both breakfast and dinner

Cons: The place was a poor 5star hotel and was looking tired around the swimming pool, tiles missing on floor of pool and poor repairs to tiles around pool and outdoor areas in need of general TLC. Large areas of the outdoor building could do with some general maintenance and painting Staff were ok but very slow with bar service whether at the bar or service at the tables in the bar Check in was a very slow process and any service around reception was very slow whether there was a queue or not

Anniversary trip

Pros: The staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a good location for the city centre with beautiful views.

Cons: If you struggle with stairs it could be difficult to get to the street level.

Disappointed and would stay in nearby Phoenicia Hotel when returning to Valletta in future

Cons: Hotel getting very tired and shabby, and the buffet breakfast was poor. Hotel has been turned into mass tourism accommodation and has lost the grandeur it used to have when we stayed previously

7 days of bliss

Pros: Swimming in the sea from the beach at the back of the pool and the view of the boats going past. The food was very good and the staff were excellent.

Cons: The 60 plus steps you had to climb exiting the hotel grounds but to be fair there was a courtesy car outside the entrance if you were struggling.

Luxury hotel in great location

Pros: Outdoor Pool was rarely crowded and it had its own beach which is unusual for a hotel in Valletta. Fabulous views from the balcony. Staff were very friendly.
