About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    This will not be an...

    Pros: Location was not too far from beach and it had lots of food options close by.
    Cons: The hidden charges that were not mentioned in the web site. The kiosk was the attendant at the front desk not a person at the desk.

    Sufficient Lodgingp

    Pros: Availability of free parking, room had sufficient space, cleaned prior to arrival. Quite comfortable beds.
    Cons: Check-in method. Where is the customer service? No clean towels or cleaning the second overnight stay, wall in bathroom needs repaired and breakfast to be included? No coffee or much in the choice of breakfast items.

    Not impressed...void of customer service....

    Pros: Housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate...sparse..very little choices with protein, basically all carbs. Room was clean. Nothing more can be said.
    Cons: Check in and check out processes were VERY impersonal. Used virtual technology. No staff at the hotel except housekeeping in the morning. No one at the front desk when needed. Very impersonal! Seems more focused on how they can keep more profits (money) for corporate, than provide customer service. Bathtub was very slippery with no effort to provide a non-slip surface. Had to ask for a bathmat to put in the tub to prevent possibility of falling.

    Pleasant

    Pros: Breakfast was adequate for this level of hotel. Housekeeping staff were very helpful and friendly.
    Cons: The check in and check out experience was very cold and impersonal. I was not provided a receipt at the time of check out nor did I receive an email with the receipt. With no front desk personnel on site, there was no way to get help at any time!

    Okay stay..

    Pros: Not too far from the beach.
    Cons: I didn't like having to talk to a computer screen to check , no customer service, also a lot of people partying outside by the pool late at night it's hard to sleep and we were on the third floor.

    Pros: It is close to beach area
    Cons: The breakfast was very simple Grab n go but if you have any food allergies you are out of luck The entry to the hotel area was under construction and not easy to get around It was dated as well

    It was scary and not...

    Pros: It looked like they are trying to reinvent but low budget
    Cons: The area surrounding was scary and the people lurking outside made the children scared The whole check in on the kiosk was strange No locking of doors to the facility was a definite drawback The mattresses were dirty / stained When we left the children had bites on their legs

    Pros: It was quiet.
    Cons: $100 deposit required at check in.no iron, clock radio, coffee pot, hairdryer broken, refrig frozen solid and unusable for 3 days, microwave dirty, had to go to kiosk 2 days to get someone to come to room to look at fridge and microwave.

    Wonderful

    Pros: Price was lower than most hotels in the area.
    Cons: A bit strange talking to a TV screen for check in & info. Check in person was nice but hard to understand with his accent. Only had two sets of towels in room for 3 persons. Asked for additional set & received 3 full sets. Needs a nightlight in bathroom.

    Pros: The bed was actually comfortable.
    Cons: This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had! Three cocroaches, the hair dryer was broken and there was no conditioner! There was no protein at the breakfast.
