About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

If you are looking for...

Pros: Staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was the usual. It was nice to be just a short walk away from a Perkins Restaurant.

Cons: The facility, or at least my room, needs a complete remodel. The sink counter and the counter in the room both had missing pieces of formica. The furniture is all very dated. I should have looked at the pictures a bit closer maybe as the room was very "cozy!" An armoire would fit in the room, but the clothes hangers were on a rack by the bed.

Pros: I liked the room. It was huge, everything in it was. The TV, the bed, the chair, the space. The shower was decent pressure and clean. You can tell the floor was new and soooo many pillows❤️❤️.

Cons: The microwave screen was broken and so was the recliner. The check in guy seemed so angry. Felt things were just an issue when it really shouldn't have been.
