About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    Good value for purpose. No...

    Pros: Good value, comfortable bed. Pretty quiet.
    Cons: Hotel is a little run down. Seemed some rooms were rented for long term. Patio doors are locked from opening at all.

    Very Poor

    Cons: Very noisy hotel. After falling asleep woke up around 12am to a flood from the ceiling in bathroom. Changed me to another room (which was adjoining with another), people screaming, asked to be changed and finally had a decent room after 130 am.

    Underwhelming

    Pros: Location was perfect - central to almost everything and easy to access off of highway. Front lobby was clean.
    Cons: Room was near an exit door where significant amounts of garbage were piled to be carried to dumpsters but remained there for several hours. It caused a smell that was absolutely disgusting. Not sure why the bags were not carried right out to the dumpsters instead of being allowed to remain inside. The thermostat was hard to work/understand. Room was over 30 degrees celsius when we arrived and had a difficult time getting it to regulate. We were unable to open outside door to cool it down or access our vehicle. There were people in halls / outside that were extremely loud and was unable to sleep for most of night - given I was there for a competition, made it extremely tough the next day given lack of sleep.

    Very Good

    Pros: First off the cleaning staff has always been absolutely AMAZING this is not my first stay at this hotel! I come with Registered Dogs, the cleaning staff knows we do not let them onto the beds. So they give us old sheet for the dogs on the floor!
    Cons: Sadly this is the only days inn that makes me pay for two rooms. (We only use 1 room) because we have 4 registered service Dogs ?? Hopefully after this visit they will not ask me to do that again! Other than that we enjoy this location and staff!
