About Days Inn By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Founded in 1970, Days Inn is a hotel chain started by Cecil B. Day and opened its first location in Tybee Island, Georgia. The second hotel came in the same year at Forsyth, Georgia with hotel rooms starting $8 a night.

Days Inn’s earlier years were quite tough. The lack of maid service was the initial issues Day had to go through after creating the brand. As a temporary solution, he had to ask help from his children to make up the beds in the hotel rooms. Furniture needed in the hotel were hauled to the location by Day’s mother, on her wagon because the truck was too heavy to go through the bridge to reach the first Days Inn hotel in Tybee. With 60 rooms and a set of friends who had no confidence on Day’s investment, Days Inn Tybee Island got a 100% occupancy in April 1970 and became a success from then on. Franchises became available in 1972 and by 1978, there are already more than 300 Days Inn hotels in the United States, Mexico as well as Canada.

Now under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Days Inn has over 1900 properties operating in different parts of the world.

    Pros: Bed was clean and comfortable.
    Cons: I was given a floor level room. Guests above me were stomping literally all night. Water pipes were loud and sleep was not restful. Second night, neighborhood cats began fighting outside at 3am! Then someone turned on their shower and the pipes were loud again. No sleep at all.

    This may have been the...

    Pros: Room needed vacuuming, as did the hallways. The place really gave off a vibe of being poorly maintained.
    Cons: Their breakfast selection was gawdawful. Not even any dry cereal. Just prepackaged muffins that tasted like preservatives.

    Cons: The heating/cooling unit fan was so loud i had to turn it off to sleep. The bathroom was not very clean. The breakfast is basically a joke. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

    We were hoping for better.

    Pros: We had stayed here previously in 2019, pre-pandemic, and enjoyed it. The room was quiet, in decent repair, and we slept well. These features were similar this trip also.
    Cons: This time the breakfast was very poor. Most items were pre-packaged and intended to be microwaved: small muffins, sausage patty in a biscuit, egg omelet. Flavor was lacking although the egg omelet wasn't too bad. No cereal, no toast, only orange juice for fruit. When we returned home and checked our credit card bill, we discovered that an additional 10 cents had been charged, probably to ensure that the card was valid when we checked in. I quibble about this because we had prepaid months earlier, with the same card, and we were previously a good customer. Breakfast matters to us, and other Days Inn's that we have stayed at offer much better. The 10 cent charge is really a bit of an insult.
