Good hotel with excellent Tube connections for the whole of London

Pros: Great staff! We were kindly upgraded when we arrived at no extra cost and they were very attentive and friendly. The room was also lovely.

Cons: Cleanliness of rooms, housekeeping staff need training in cleaning, mould in fridge, coffee stains on the tables and windowsills, bathroom floor in the room looked like it had never been hoovered or washed in weeks, we had to wear our shoes at all times as the floors were filthy, there was mould and what looked like burnt wood on the windowsills very unappealing and with mould in the room it will have health affects. There was dirt in the bathroom sinks, the shower was filthy. Furniture in the room was broken, the toilet seat in the bathroom was broken, the bedroom door handle came off as we went to leave the room, even the corridors in the hotel the skirting boards were falling off the wall, as we walked through the corridor we could see up into the ceiling above us, we pulled back the duvets on the bed and there was hair and eyelashes in the duvet so we slept on top of the beds in our winter coats as the heating wasnt working and we didnt use the duvets. Staff were not useful when we complained, reception staff said that if we were to move room it would be of high standard and clean and it was not, the second room we were given was just as bad so we checked out immediately the next day. It was late when we checked in at night and if I could have left as soon as seeing the room I would have. I spoke to the manager regarding the heating and his response was oh there is a plug in heater to use, for 262 pounds a night that is disgraceful!!! How a hotel can charge this much is ridiculous and refuse to answer me regarding a refund for the third night, which the guy at reception said I would receive through the help of booking.com. Disappointing being lied to by the staff in the hotel. To make it worse as I was making the complaint in the hotel the general manager was standing at the other computer and didn't bother to come over to us. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The images on booking.com do not show the real hotel.

Brilliant hope to be back

Pros: Very good location, nice comfortable bed very helpful staff.

Cons: There wasnt much to dislike about this property. It is being renovated but I was emailed beforehand and it didnt affect my stay.

Value for money

Pros: There is certainly value for money its not anything fancy, but is comfortable and close to public transport and opposite Hyde Park.

Cons: They were renovating the corridors, so it really looked quite bad - but I understand its a work in progress.

Pros: I liked the cleanliness and order of the room.

Cons: What I didn't like about the room was that the insulation between the rooms was very weak. I could hear the person talking next to me on the phone or listen to the TV or hear his phone ring. This was very annoying to me, as I couldn't sleep well.
