About Corus Hotels Brand Hotels

Corus Hotels is a hotel chain with 8 establishments in the UK, with 2 other hotels in Malaysia. The hotels are owned by the London Vista Hotel Limited, which is part of the Malayan United Industries. The brand name was launched in 1998 by the Regal Hotel Group, in order to set it apart from the Regal Hotels International. Now headquartered in Berkhamsted, the Corus Hotels continues to serve with unparalleled services even after the huge issue of maître d’ Elena Salvoni’s retirement on the same day the government announced plans to remove the default retirement age in 2010. Ms. Salvoni was 90 years old. The news made the national newspaper as Corus Hotels was best known for the maître d’s service.

Back in 2003, Corus launched a chef training school, which was followed later on by a Reception School. These schools became a training ground in hopes to at least reach half of Ms. Salvoni’s part in the business. Fortunately, the schools gave birth to great hotel staff who is now active contributors in Corus. Until now, the Ms. Salvoni has never been replaced with someone with such level of expertise and appeal to clients. Still, Corus Hotels continue to expand operations and improve in their field.

Wonderful
Delightful country manor house experience.

Pros: All the staff were professional and welcoming and were happy to help with any questions I had. I highly recommend Burnham Beeches to guests who prefer a country manor-style hotel with acres of green pasture.
Cons: Nothing to add here

Very Good
Good overall

Pros: Loved the room, actual pool, jacuzzi and sauna were lovely and not too busy. Breakfast was really good. I was given an upgrade which was a nice bonus for my birthday.
Cons: The changing rooms for the pool feel dirty and are falling apart. Felt like a public swimming pool with very old showers. Desperately need a re-fit as not in keeping at all with rest of hotel.

Nice hotel and staff

Pros: Nice location and grounds. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: If staying more than one night the gluten free menu was very limited. Bathroom door wouldn’t close and only one double plug away from the bed.

Wonderful stay

Pros: An excellent stay from the get go. A warm, friendly welcome from reception. I was given a room upgrade, which was lovely. Room was clean and spacious, and I loved the White Company toiletries. Breakfast was plentiful with a great variety of fruit, cereals, yoghurt, and pastries plus cooked options. Check out was easy too. I stayed because I had to attend a funeral and the helpful staff and ambience of the hotel made what could have been a stressful experience in the end quite relaxing. Well done.
Cons: Nothing

Lovely - bed was so...

Pros: Really friendly staff and very accommodating and helpful
Cons: The bell on the front door wasn't working - and it is very high -As wheelchair user travelling alone it would be great if this could be fixed. I was told reception is manned 24/7 however when I was knocking on the door the person at reception didn't hear me - Another guest opened the door for me.

Staff are lovely! Afternoon tea...

Pros: Lovely afternoon tea room and breakfast buffet! Staff were so friendly and helpful! Hotel lovely to look at!
Cons: We stayed as a big party so various rooms were booked in different locations of the hotel. Some with air con, some people offered room upgrades, free breakfasts.. prices we had paid as couples were all very different from one another. Some of the rooms have no air con, very stuffy and seemingly a little dusty in the sense of not a very comfortable sleep without having to lodge a window open.. left the hotel feeling very unwell and flu like and that was both me and my partner… the shower has no lip on the edge so every time we would shower the floor flooded.. again not something you would expect with the price you pay to stay at this hotel… such a shame really as there were some good points but other points total let down!

Poor
Overpriced for what it is

Pros: Bed comfortable, most of staff were pleasant and accommodating Breakfast choice good
Cons: Decor very tired. Never any staff around when you needed them. Wasn’t offered freshly cooked eggs. Scrambled eggs been kept warm since cooked for 7.30 am Staff not trained in Health and safety reported accident to the receptionist and she said she didn’t see it and I could complete an accident form if I wanted. The staff there didn’t seem to know it was the law. An elderly couple had been put on 2nd floor and couldn’t walk far but no working lift form them. This seems to have been out of service for some time. I stayed two nights and room key wouldn’t stay charged. They take £100 for two nights from you for extras which I have never heard of before. Night staff on Friday night were good- two young lads and older gentleman I wrote an email of complaint about hazards in the hotel and no one so far has answered. After looking on trip advisor it looks like this is normal for this hotel.

Awful!!! Do not recommend

Pros: The grounds and tea room
Cons: The room was just ok. The double bed was too small and the bathroom was very small. Worst spa we have ever been to. It was very poor and needs improvements made. We couldn't use the lockers in the changing rooms as the locks didn't work so we had to take all our belongings with us into the spa. We had to ask for towels at reception and weren't offered robes and slippers until we saw a member of staff in the spa who said reception should have given them to us and she went and just got robes for us. The swimming pool was very cold The jacuzzi only worked if you got out and pressed the button on the wall There were also loose tiles as you got in and out of the jacuzzi and they caught your feet. They need to put more loungers out as there were only 4 there and it got quite busy. The lady at reception when checking in advised us to eat bteakfast by 8.30am otherwise they could run put of food! We can't eat that early and usually have breakfast around 9.45am and have never encountered a food shortage at other hotels at that time We were then advised we could otherwise have room setvice at an extra £5 per tray! We got down to breakfast at 9.45am and the only thing they didn't have much of were mushrooms and no wholemeal bread! Did not enjoy our stay and will not be teturning!
