About Best Western Plus Hotels Brand Hotels

Best Western Plus founded by M.K. Guertin started in 1946 and began as an informal channel between the properties and the guests or travelers. Guertin with over 23 years of experience in the lodging and accommodation business started this “guest referral system” mainly through phone calls from his office to the that of the property. By 1962, Best Western Plus became the first ever hotel reservation covering the entire United States.

A year after, the Best Western Plus became the largest motel industry in the nation with 699 properties and 35,201 rooms under its management. Membership loyalty programs became a “thing” during the late 1980s for most hotels operating in the Americas. Best Western Plus launched its Gold Crown Club International Program and acquired 200,000 members the same year and with sales of more than $40 million.

Best Western Plus continued its expansion and reaches places like Greece, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana. BY 2015, a new master band logo was introduced, giving it a more modern and polished look, intended for the upper midscale market. At present, there are over 4500 privately owned hotels in 100 countries and territories working under the Best Western Plus brand.

    Best stay in Rome and...

    Pros: Best stay we’ve had in a while for a “budget” hotel, didn’t feel like the usual ones in Europe at all. Rooms were big and well equipped with amenities, a mini fridge and others. Location was great and literally minutes from the Vatican or there was a bus stop (Candia) / metro (Cipro) to get to the city centre within 20-30 mins. Staff were amazing and very gracious, knowledgeable as well and always had service with a smile. Ricciardo at the bar was awesome too and gave us jugs of milk for our room for tea and coffee which was a lovely touch. All in all, this was my first stay in a Best Western hotel and I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Great location and outstanding staff....

    Pros: The bedroom was very large and the beds were comfortable. The staff was outstanding and very helpful. The location was fantastic and made walking around and navigating the city easy.
    Cons: The walls were very thin and you could definitely hear the people next to you in other rooms. The bathroom shower drained slowly and always leaked through the doors.

    Pros: Location was great. Staff was exceptional. First time in Rome and they were great accommodating early check-in and airport shuttle, and had great restaurant references within walking distance. Very friendly. The hotel was very clean, which I am very particular about.
