Uncomfortably hot, unsustainable

Pros: Bed was comfortable, a desk was provided, there was a very good shower, and good double-glazed windows. Staff were nice. The location is convenient for the Arena, Piazza Bra etc. Breakfast is good.

Cons: I regretted booking to stay here. and left after 2 nights of my 3 night stay, despite no refund being possible, as I was so uncomfortably hot that I couldn't sleep. The room temperature was set to 26 degrees C (!) and could not be reduced below 19. It also couldn't be turned off: the heating kept automatically coming on overnight. The room contained cards telling me to 'think of the environment' by not having my towels washed every day - good idea. But Best Western should think of the environment by having a controllable heating system. Having the temperature set so high is not acceptable.

Pleasant overall but needs vast improvement

Pros: Location is great, quiet though relatively close to the center. Staff are professional and (mostly) welcoming. Rooms are spacious enough, at least for Verona. An electric kettle is provided. Breakfast is excellentincluding coffee, which is very rare in Verona.

Cons: Noise from the adjacent restaurant, apparently a long-known issue that though hasn't been addressed in years. Rooms are not soundproofed. Breakfast is overpriced (12 euro per person at the time of this review). The wi-fi connection is terrible, potentially the reason why our so-called 'smart TV' never worked. Furniture details and overall room finishes leave a lot to be desired: chair legs are in the way and a true hazard (we constantly tripped over them), just like lamps that are fixed to the wall right at the height where one can't avoid hitting them with one's head (we did); no coat hangers other than inside the wardrobe; bathroom pocket doors don't fully latch to the wall; no area exists in the bathroom even for laying down a small toiletry bag; nightstands come in a ridiculous, unusable shape; no way to have medium lighting in the room; key card readers have been installed on the wall at an angle where the key can't easily slide into and out of the reader, and the walls have been left unpainted after the readers were (recently?) installed; the windows have no mosquito nets in an area where mosquitoes proliferate all year long. All these issues are very evident and very easy to solve, and should have been avoided to begin with. Off topic: avoid the restaurant next door. It must have had a good run in decades past, but our experience was atrocious.

An enjoyable stay in Verona

Pros: The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel was only 5 minutes on foot from central Verona, so very conveniently located. The room facilities were excellent - including a state of the art shower room, a large sofa and plenty of space.

Cons: We booked a superior double room, which quite expensive, and for the price I would have expected at least some views - not just a view of the hotel infrastructure
