Samui International Airport – USM Ko Samui
The Samui International Airport is known as one of the most beautiful airports in the world and is Thailand’s seventh busiest airport. It is a privately owned airport that is located in the island of Ko Samui, Thailand. Its airport code, USM, stands for the name of the island Ko Samui. The code should be KSM, but since it was already used by St. Mary Airport, so they used USM instead. The airport construction by Bangkok Airways began in 1982 and formally used beginning in 1989. In 2008, Thai Airways began its flights to Ko Samui. Annually, the airport can handle more than a million passengers.

The USM-Samui International Airport has a unique, open-air design. The gift shop, ticket office, VIP lounge and toilets are located in the indoor areas. The airport has small six gates. There are two information counters within the airport, one at the arrival area, and the other in check-in area. Some of the best cities to go to from Samui International Airport include Hua Thanon, Koh Samui, and Mae Nam.
