Zilinia Slovakia -ILZ

Zilina Airport under Letisko Zilina is a public airport that serves the areas of Zilina, Slovakia. It is located 6.2 miles of the main city in the village of Dolny Hricov in the northern regions of Slovania. The airport sits 311 meters above mean sea level and is currently being used to serve international and domestic flights in the area. Built in the 1970s, it was mainly constructed to be able to replace the old Brezovsky Majer Airport to accommodate the growing needs of Zilina.

The ILZ-Zilinia Airport is also open to amateur sport flights, private flights, special flights as well as air ambulance flights. The University of Zilina also uses the airport for the primary training of students undertaking air transport related courses in the university. Officially opened in August 1974, its first flight to Prague commenced two years earlier in May 1972. For a fun and historical experience in the area, head to the Bojnice near the city of Prievidza. There are plenty of observation decks and neo-gothic castles to see and enjoy in the area.

As of the moment, there is no ILZ Airport hotel available inside the airport. The closest available is the Hotel Chateau Gbel'any and the Hotel Fitt. Both hotels are within less than half an hour from the airport and are fairly reviewed in the region. The 4-star Holiday Inn Zilina offers a rooftop spa, 3 restaurants and an indoor pool. The G Hotel Zilina features a bar/lounge and offers free wifi. 

The Sliac Airport (SLD) in Sliac, Slovakia is the closest airport accessible to and from Zilina Airport. It is used by the military as well as for commercial flights in the Zvolen area.
