Labor Day Weekend Getaway

After a long summer of working hard, you need a day off to celebrate the countless hours you put in. This is why we look forward to Labor Day! Is there a better way to spend Labor Day weekend than on a long, relaxing weekend getaway? We do not think so! To maximize the relaxation, take advantage of the long weekend and getaway to one of these labor day worthy cities!

If your ideal Labor Day Weekend is spent in a cute little town, then Sausalito is perfect for you! Sausalito is just across San Francisco’s bay and right by the Golden Gate Bridge. The weather is always nice in northern California and this small town has plenty of activities to keep you enjoying the weekend. One of the most famous is the annual Art Festival in Sausalito, which includes great music, delicious food and fresh wine. However, if you want less crowds and more nature, Sausalito has easy access to the gorgeous Muir Woods National Monument.

The Finger Lakes area is perfect for a relaxing and romantic getaway. It’s best to rent a car because the Finger Lakes encompasses 14 different counties. However, the scenic area will make the drive feel like an event of its own. Find a nice place to check in for the night  so you can enjoy the many different wineries. Also, bring hiking shoes because Watkins Glen State Park, Ithaca waterfalls, and many other trails around the area are worth exploring!

With a slogan like “Keep Austin Weird,” each visitor is guaranteed to have a trip like no other in Austin. This promise is supported by the many quirky experiences you can find in this city. You can do everything from sunset bat watching to paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake to supporting the thriving art’s scene in the area. No matter what you spend your three days doing, be sure to enjoy the delicious Austin cuisine. Leave with a full stomach of great barbecue, breakfast tacos, and Tex-Mex food!

There is no better way to say goodbye to summer than enjoying a fresh Lobster Roll! Portland is the perfect place to enjoy fine farewell dining and check out some breathtaking views. For more stunning scenery, wake up for an early sunrise and drive 20 minutes from Portland to Cape Elizabeth where you can see the most photographed lighthouse: Portland Head Lighthouse. The early wake up call may be tough, but it’ll be worth it to have the amazing view all to yourself!

This city is a great place to spend your Labor Day Weekend. With festivals, beaches, iconic comedy shows, and many classic tourist spots to hit, Chi-Town is a great weekend destination for first time visitors or more seasoned travelers. There will also be plenty of celebrations for those over 21 hoping to make the most of the holiday. Make sure to find a good spot for the fireworks at Navy Pier because these are the last fireworks of the year. Luckily, Chicago saves the best for last as the firework show is spectacular!

For a traditional relaxing Labor Day weekend getaway, look into traveling to the Florida Keys! Although you have to watch out for tropical storms during September, the weather is still very nice and the area is less crowded than normal. That means you can still lounge around the beautiful beaches and snorkel in the gorgeous waters. Don’t worry too much about the beach bod though. Key Lime Pie is a specialty here and one slice is never enough!
