Xichang Qingshan Airport is a public airport that takes travelers from all over China to the city of Xichang, China. The capital city of the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, China is known for being the home of the Xichang Space Center, the country’s space vehicle launch facility. Multiple airlines fly to Xichang Qingshan Airport, specifically Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Express Airlines, China Southern Airlines, GX Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and XiamenAir. Destinations are all across the country, including major destinations Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, among many others.

Xichang Qingshan Airport (XIC) is elevated to 5,112 feet above mean sea level with a concrete runway that extends to 11,811 feet in length. The regional airport’s runway, which allows night landings, is built to handle all types of aircraft, including oversized jets, long-haul carriers, and commercial transport aircraft.

What to Do & Area Attractions

Although there are a few accommodation options very close to the Xichang Qingshan Airport, most of the best hotels are about half an hour away in the city center. A couple good places to stay are Qionghai Hotel, Holiday Inn Express Xichang City Center, and Xichang Minshan Hotel. 

Travelers who need to travel out of the country will not be able to catch flights from the Xichang Qingshan Airport. Instead, travel to one of China’s international airports, such as the Lijiang Sanyi Airport in Lijiang, China or Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, China to fly to international destinations.
