Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport, located in Bridgeport, CT, is named after the most famous tenant of the airport, said person choosing the location as the site of the Sikorsky Aviation Corporation. Prior to the name change, it was called the Avon Field, not really being an official airport but simple a racetrack with a grass infield where aircrafts land. As per the Federal Aviation Administration, the facility is designated for general aviation.

The airport covers roughly 800 acres worth of space with two runways made of asphalt. As per 2010 records, there has been close to 68,000 aircrafts operation, averaging to 186 per day.
