Selaparang Mataram – AMI Mataram
AMI (airport code) or Selaparang Airport was the only airport that served the Island of Lombok and Mataram City before it closed down in September 30 2011. The airport code came from the name of the nearby city Ampenan. Mataram, Indonesia is West Nusa Tenggara’s capital city and was the main city it rendered its air transport services may it be for passengers, or cargo. Operated by PT Angkasa Pura 1, it closed down in 2011 to give way to facilitating the transfer of resources as well as its operations to Lombok International Airport.
Best Time to Visit
Taxi Mataram is an airport taxi service that aimed to transport passengers from AMI airport to accommodations nearby, as well as attractions if tourists would want to explore Gili Trawangan right away to make the most of the city. However, it stopped operations along with Selaparang Airport in 2011. It had security facilities like baggage x-rays, explosive detector, walk through metal detector and hand-wand metal detector. This airport has 2 terminals (international and domestic) for passengers and one for cargos.
