Pros: Everything! The road to Hillside is an adventure in and on its own right and also what makes this place unique since theres nothing around you except for nature. Holger was a great host who made us feel right at home when we arrived and was available to help us having one of the best stays we had in Lao. Arranged a cooking class with locals (the highlight of our trip) and made sure we had a great time. The chalets are great and spacious and make you feel like youre immersed in naturebecause you are. Great food freshly cooked and a great swimming pool cleaned daily. Ill put this is as a positiveyou need a 4WD or someone to take you here, especially if its raining. We did it with our rented 4WD and it was a lot of fun but we took it slowly while we could see the locals being more confident with their normal cars going faster than us.

Cons: Water pressure was n the shower and difficulty in regulating the temperature, but thats me being picky, this place is great and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Pros: The place is remote and relaxing after some full days in Luang Prabang. Staff and owner are very friendly and the service is great.

Cons: the food and drinks are rather pricey and there are no other options to eat due to the remoteness.

Pros: 10/10 - nothing but good things to say about this place! It is a little slice of luxury tucked away in the hills (but the town is reachable within 30 mins). After a questionable sleeper-bus experience for 18 hours the host knew exactly what we needed and greeted us with the warmest welcome! He and his wife were both very lovely people and very attentive to our needs. The place was clean and comfy, and the grounds were beautiful. All the food tasted great - the buffalo steak especially We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Pros: If you are a nature lover looking for a mix of outdoor activities or relaxation away from the crowds, this is the place to be. The bungalows are nice and clean, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff very friendly and supportive. The pool is nice and refreshing and you can book herbal baths and massages. Hillside offers several hiking tours in the surroundings - either with a guide or on your own and can assist to book tours. Nam Dong Park is in walking distance and is not to miss - you can Zipline here, hike, relax or do some craft or cooking classes. We hope to be back sometime!

Pros: Fantastic location away from the cities set in the hills around the jungle. Great views from property and plenty to do in the local area, IE national park only 15 mintues walk ' waterfalls zipline ect. If you want quiet and peace from the normal rush of life this is for you. The staff and owners are fantastic.

Cons: My only one minor point is that the 2 rooms that are attached, is that the wall divided them is thin so you can hear next door.

Nice quiet , away from. Everywhere location

Pros: Located several miles away from Luang Prabang, in the hills. Nice quiet location with a shuttle run into town at 10am and 5pm. If you are arriving by plane, contact the hotel about pickup from the airport as the local taxi will cost you 25 for the 10 mile journey.

Cons: At the airport you will need to complete two forms and pay $40 for a visa, $1 for scanning your photo and $1 processing fee. There is an ATM outside the airport. On returning, you cant change the local currency back into USD or GBP or Baht, only Dong or Euros and another currency Id never heard of.

A luxury place in the hills above Luang Prabang

Pros: It is an amazing place. Nestled up in the hills above Luang Prabang, surrounded by trees. A quiet place with a swimming pool, a sauna, and a garden. The rooms are nicely located in the garden. It has a restaurant on site that offers good meals. It is highly recommended, especially if you are booking a few days in the area.

Cons: The road coming to the place is a narrow dirt road, about 10km long. It is as bad as other roads in Laus, in fact, we have driven roads that had poorer conditions. However, if you need to come and go several times it may be an issue.

A wonderful place for relaxing, enjoying good food and taking in beautiful views.

Pros: The Hillside Nature lodge was a great choice to stay after a busy itinerary in town. We loved the outlook and beautiful views from our spacious bungalow. The bed and furniture were comfortable and the veranda was a lovely place to relax. The restaurant was excellent with views overlooking the gardens and pool to the mountains. The food was delicious with a varied menu and staff so attentive. We appreciated the inclusion of a good breakfast. There are various activities on offer and we enjoyed the trek, the massage and steam bath. The hosts are helpful, knowledgeable and charming. I highly recommend visiting the lodge if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing experience whilst in Luang Prabang.

Pros: We had the coziest stay at Hillside. Holger and his family are incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful. We felt thoroughly taken care of and the property itself was a dream (we especially loved the two ponies, Jason and Elwood). theres plenty of trekking to do within walking distance from the property, and they have even pathed out a 360 view point trail thats behind the property. Finally, the food was amazing and fresh. we would definitely come back here if given the chance.

Cons: would have liked to use the pool, but it was too cold (not really the fault of the resort, it was very cold weather when we visited).
