Staybridge Suites is part of the IHG of InterContinental Hotels Group. Their first extended stay hotel outside Europe was the 132-suite Staybridge Suites in Liverpool that was opened to public in June 2008.

In the 2011 United States Hotel Chain Survey, the Business Travel News had rated them the top upscale extended-stay brand.
