Pros: It was a lovely stay at Gartons Cape. We booked the Panoramic Suite, which is huge and has two balconies looking out to sea. The hotel is on the coastal edge offering a fantastic view. We went in late April, which was a very quite period, at one point we were the only guests there. The food is good, room service was at times slow but very hospitable. The staff are very nice.

Cons: The weather, but that's not the fault of the hotel. We read some comments beforehand about the road noise, which from the one side of the room with the doors open you can hear the road, BUT there is a second balcony in the Panoramic Suite overlooking the sea and is better anyway. However if using the hotels beach area and sun loungers, noise from the road will not lead to a peaceful experience. The mattress was very uncomfortable, which after complaining the manager had it replaced for one that was very comfortable and made a huge difference to our stay. We had an experience with Tuk Tuk driver territory wars with the so called designated hotel driver angry with the driver we had booked in from outside. We booked someone else because the hotel driver wasn't available, and suggested to do so by reception staff. It ended with the other driver being evicted and we had to use the hotel driver, which was also far more expensive than others. He did however have a change of tune, apologised, was very kind, gave us a free drink at sunset. Therefore all is forgiven. The hotel staff should have been clear and more helpful when the situation escalated.

Cons: the food we ordered from the menu was not good. needs improvement. delicious juice and pancakes for breakfast. the staff was very nice.

Pros: The best place to stay in Sri Lanka (Midigama beach area), the staff was amazing, so nice an welcoming. The room was big, clean and comfortable And the pool &beach area was spectacular! highly recomended!!!

Cons: But the rooms are in urgent need of renovation.. and the room on the corner facing the street and a tiny bit the ocean can definitely not be called ocean view deluxe room and is not value the money unfortunately

Pros: It was very nice and clean and had beautiful views! The staff was very nice and attentive, the food was good with nice selections. Even though we were the only guest there they did not cut any corners with us.

Cons: Beach was not long enough to take walks and at night they shut down the place so it was difficult to go down to the beach or sit out at the pool as there was little or no lighting

Pros: The manager was very helpful - he was the only good thing about the hotel, and went out of his way to fix the many, many issues with our stay.

Cons: Staff (other than Manager) did not speak good English, were not able to help, couldn't do basic maths, didn't know answers to standard questions (e.g. cost of an extra bed). The room was not clean, lots of insects. The toilet smelt bad. No one cleaned the room, until we asked 3 times. Wifi didn't work. Beach was tiny. AC leaked water.

Wonderful location

Pros: Staff very helpful and sorted out problems speedily. Arranged drivers for us and were all round very helpful and friendly

Cons: Bathroom not the cleanest and we were initially given the wrong room and had to change the following day. No hair dryer in rooms and only 1 towel between the 2 of us at the first room
