Van der Valk is an international Dutch hospitality hotel chains founded by the Van der Valk family in the Netherlands. It started in 1929 as a café de Gouden Leeuw in Voorschoten that was acquired by Martinus Van der Valk, the youngest sibling in a family of 24 children, after his mother died. He then bought other properties in poor financial state and builds them back up. The business grew quickly in the 80’s and 90’s with the whole Van der Valk family working together, each having assigned responsibility in the business. It uses the toucan for its logo as it is a beautiful representation of being a cheerful and social animal.
Being a family business, it gives its guests a feeling of a second home because of the homely atmosphere in each of their hotels. The interior of the hotel is modern but very cozy. All of the hotels have restaurant that used to serve meal typically eaten at home but today they have culinary expert to level up their menu that would offer something for everyone. But one thing has never changed: visiting Van der Valk feels like coming home, being at home: delicious food and drinks and the best good night's rest in a cozy atmosphere.
